Eddie never ever will forget how he was without bunch with HW belts approx 6 months because late replacement for away corner : panda not ranked in top5 had finished AJ in distance.

Eddie never ever in his life will forget how 41 y.o shadow from uncle Povetkin had finished Whyte with 1 punch.
This f********** ed up a lot of hope and dreams there. Doesn't matters that Whyte had won rematch vs post covid uncle Pov's ghost.
It does not matters here any bare thing.

Eddie does knows about AJ things we here do not know.

 

Not sure what two days gets you after 6 months with two teams that have worked together on multiple fights. Eddie has shown he's quite the optimist about deals so maybe adjust what he says based on what we just saw from him.

I like the weight though for Usyk. I think it shows he isn't after a paycheck or a moral victory, that he's going in realistic about the circumstances and is going to take chances to win and become the unified HW champ.

I don't think it's very likely to work but it shows why this is the most intriguing matchup out there given Wilder and Fury are tied up.

Has any 'elite' fighter radically changed their style successfully for a specific fight?

My thinking is their style is what made them elite in the first place, why **** with it?

 

There's money still to be made for Usyk even without the AJ fight, but AJ is the big money fight right now. I would have enjoyed seeing Usyk fight Joyce again. That fight intrigues me.
If the fight goes to purse bid / arbitration I don't know what happens to the rematch clause. Maybe they can't even introduce that into the negotiations.
I don't think Usyk plans on campaigning for any length of time at heavyweight, I think he's just trying to maximize his earnings and that's fine, he's earned it. I always thought his AJ fight was his cash out fight. If he wins he may stick around for 2 or 3 more.

 

It's almost a catch 22 situation. He puts on more weight to better absorb punishment while at the same time it slows him down and makes him more hittable. Maybe he thinks the extra weight will give him enough pop to put AJ to sleep or maybe he works it off in camp before the fight like you said. From the little I've seen of Usyk after his weight gain, it looks to be more fat than muscle. As you say, we shall see. They've got me interested so job done there. Whether he can do it or not, I think AJ values his legacy and he really wants to unify all the significant titles.

 

Let's hope its not a typical sleazy deal by Hearn, i.e. no rematch clause.
