Hey AJ, if you lose this fight, you better retire, cuz ur career will be over!!! Better have some red bulls on deck for the rematch scrub!
When a boxer talks about retirement and possibly losing before a fight it never ends well. Very worrying for Hearn, Sky and if you're an AJ fan.
Depends how he loses, if it’s the same or worse than the last fight it would be a long road back, but possible. If he lost the decision over 12 rounds it would be a lot easier to carry on, especially if he had a few moments. If Ruiz went on to beat wilder or fury AJ’s case would look even better. Not a great fan of AJs but I don’t want to see him out of the division, he adds a lot of positives to the mix.
You know, boxing is changed a lot in the last years. After the Klitschkos era (for many a bad era) for the first time since Tyson people have started to follow these new fighters through the socials, the forums...the attention for boxing has risen up, no doubt. Thats good for fans but less for the boxers who are more pressured than some years ago...people and press ask them everything and want answers...however dont think this kind of questions today can influence Joshua or others anyway not quite.
this fight seems a contest of ******s. One partying nonstop doing everything to lose. And the other one with the idea of losing taking all the space in his head. Can you bet that both lose? it's a pity.
Thing is both camps decided to build that fight for the future, when they should of fought when the fans were clammering for it in 2018. Lost count of how many posts I made about them marinating that fight and presuming neither would lose in the meantime.Wilder should of had his first loss to Fury and Joshua was talking about Wilder in the press conference with Ruiz sat next to him. I hope something good comes out of this and that promoters don't look to follow the Floyd v Manny example and Joshua v Wilder example. Give the fans what they want as the majority of us ain't stupid.
He's making plans if he loses. Not good. He needs to be focusing on why he lost, fix those issues and work on what made him good, better.
Still by far the biggest HW draw. Still able to sell big numbers at Cardiff or Wembley depending on the opponent.
Issue for Joshua is he was always marketed to the casuals as this unstoppable force, which was why they jumped on the train. Now, in the extremely unlikely event that he beats Ruiz in the rematch, they can come out and say "I had severe concussion and the flu and food poisoning and family issues in the first fight" and the casuals will buy it. But lose again, and he doesn't need to retire but he will have to accept being just another guy in the division.
I guess he can lose twice to Ruiz.... Vernon Forrest lost twice in a row to Ricardo Mayorga, a clearly inferior boxer to Forrest, but he managed to fight on and have a few more good fights... George Groves lost twice to Froch, and he still carried on a bit... David Price lost to Toney Thompson twice and carried on...
With the kind of money on the table, AJ would have to be a complete mug to retire after a loss to Ruiz. A loss to Ruiz would make the Wilder fight a lot more likely to happen too, and that would still be big money. Also AJ has always come across as mentally tough. David Price lost his soul to Tony Thompson and was never ever the same again. You get the impression that AJ wouldnt be psuchologically destroyed by losing the rematch. He would still be able to beat guys in the top 10
