AJ - He has momentum - He is always in the gym - Wladimir is not ring sharp and has been poor since the Jennings fight
Out with the old, in with the new. I don't really care either way. If Klitscho could beat Joshua, it would definitely put an emphatic stamp on his legacy. Joshua is the type of opponent, that he never had when he was in his prime. His brother got to fight an older Lewis. Wlad now gets to fight a young gun in his prime who is his size.
I want to see Wladimir win and then punish Fury for delaying his career a year. I really don't think Joshua can handle Wlads power. And Wladimir WON'T make the mistake of not letting his hands go that he made against Fury. I think even a 41 year old Wladimir knocks out Joshua.
Note the poll is "Who do you want to win?" I want Klitschko to win (I like AJ too but always liked the Klitschkos more), but expect Joshua to win. AJ can't afford to lose, he's building his career, while Klitschko has already had a great career and a loss wouldn't affect his place in history.
In terms of who I want to win, that's easy Joshua. He potentially is a far bigger star than even Wlad ever was, he will be good for boxing if he can be a dominant champion. I've never been a Wlad fan, I always rated Vitali above him even back in the early days when Wlad was the undefeated heir apparent. Only time I have ever rooted for Wlad was against Fury and even then Wlad disappointed me. Wlad was a good champion, respectful and a good ambassador for the sport in general but he wasn't the most exciting champion and we saw the division decline in prestige and recognition during his reign. I hope Joshua can restore the spectacle that is heavyweight boxing.
A year ?? No. Wlad wasted a good portion of the year himself waiting around hoping Fury would get fat.. Fury beat him in Nov 2015. It then took Wlad until the end of April to announce the date of the rematch for the end of July. The fight should have been fought in April , even earlier.. Wladdy lolly gagged around for months.. He brought it all on himself. Its his own fault.. He delayed his own career.
For the future of Boxing it's better AJ wins. I don't think Wlad fights on after this match regardless of the outcome. If Wlad wins then this new generation of heavyweights loses its momentum. If AJ wins then this new era of heavyweights will really start to take off.
