Perspective: Mercer who went 1-4 against top ten heavyweights and lost to Ferguson and Holmes’ ghost during his prime? Mercer who was never up on the cards in a big fight? Joshua who cleaned out half of the division? You can hold that one.
You’re so triggered. Anyone who knows boxing knows that Ruiz has power, speed, and fundamentals. Mercer was so exposed by Holmes that he even said something like, “I should learn how to box,” post fight.
Lol and it sounds to me like he got better and reached his peak later on as he beat Jesse Ferguson in the rematch and went toe to toe with Holyfield and gave Lewis one of if not absolutely his toughest fight
I don’t think people on here ‘overrate’ Morrison. He had legit power and a Glass Jaw and depending on if he took training as serious as he did his partyIng he could be a tough fight. Morrison could fight he just was more interested in partying. I saw where his mom says he tested positive for HIV as early as 1990 or 1991 which knowing what that virus does to the body makes his few accomplishments even more staggering. Morrison wasn’t a bum and if you let him Chin Check you it usually didn’t end up very well. Ask Razor Ruddock.
Ruiz beat a prime Joshua and Holmes was in his forties so.... Holmes beat nobody in his comeback but Mercer. There’s your hint.
Ruiz beat a prime Joshua because Joshua went in there trying to brawl it out with the shorter faster fighter. In the rematch Joshua beat him VERY comfortably because he boxed Ruiz at range and moved around and Ruiz's slow feet couldn't keep up with him and Holmes would do the same thing Ever heard of the term styles make fights ? And age isnt everything i think you should know this since you're making yourself out to be a boxing specialist. Its even next to the name
If you knew the sport like I did, you'd know that Lennox Lewis is the guy behind the words under my username. I was in the audience at MSG. I did not see a brawling Joshua. I saw a Joshua who got ruined by an excellent counter hook and started looking for the exit when Ruiz nailed him in the ribcage several rounds later.
Yeah i know that was a nickname he liked and everyone knows that. And yes Ruiz and Joshua brawled in the center of the ring and Ruiz's counterpunching, handspeed and short reach shinned as was able to rock joshua during the exchanges and drop him. When that left hook landed it ruined Ajs balance and the fight was already over. Thats what happened watch the fight again. Like i said it wasnt a smart gameplan for him to try and go toe to toe with Ruiz. He did drop Ruiz however Ruiz got up ate the punches Joshua threw at him after and then Ruiz's inside prowess shinned. But thats all. Joshua boxed him from a distance in the rematch at beat him with ease. Styles make fights
As long as AJ doesn't try to bum rush Morrison like he did in Ruiz One, he'll win. Tommy couldn't box and faded predictably in round five. AJ could take him out then. Or point him out in 12.
Yeah but AJ is not B level.....Lennox Lewis height and standup style seemed to be the difference....AJ has all the same skills and a more complete style with two handed skills and he is bigger longer and more athletic AJ stops him early....if Tommy lands AJ gets up and stops him anyway
Morrison has a puncher’s chance if he gets off first but Joshua would be a heavy favorite, for all the obvious reasons.
I think Tommy AIDs has an excellent chance of beating AJ. AJ might possibly beat Tommy by running away and potshotting like Ruiz 2. But he won't do that, because he'll want to prove he is physically superior to Tommy. He'll want to send a message to the world and destroy this ''Great Hope''. And so what will actually happen is that he'll start exchanging with Tommy to prove he is the stronger man, or even rush in after a KD like he did with Ruiz, and guess what? BAM. The hook will explode AJ's jaw. And the false idol will be napping just like he was after sparring Pricey. Did people not see Povetkin landing hooks on AJ? Prime Tommy was more explosive than old Povetkin.
