People just love to hate on Joshua for whatever reason. For a guy 18 fights in his resume is excellent, especially considering he started boxing late and had a short amateur career.

I agree that his resume is decent for an 18-fight pro. However, once you become a so-called champion you are then put in a position where you have to defend the title against the best. Joshua's first two defenses were against grossly undeserving foes. If the Vlad fight somehow falls through, then AJ sure as hell better take on one of the other top guys.

Ive always considered the critics of Joshua,s resume to be morons and trolls. 18 fights isnt alot to start with and how many rounds has he actually boxed as a professional? But then let them get hung up on the resume, he is a world champion and is to face Vladimir Klitchko next, what on earth is there to complain about?

Two sparring sessions disguised as titles fight vs no top ten level opponents. That's the problem. Joshua is a champion now, but he's still go training wheels on.

The best Joshua fought is likley Dillan Whyte. Another problem. Since then he has taken easier matches!

And on the way up, he feasted on has beens! Sprott age 39, Johnson, the loser of 3 in a row and 4 of his last 5 and Matt Skelton, age 47!

The straight dope is this: Joshua fought better opponents in the amateurs. He is very gifted but his management is being very careful not to match him vs any prime top 10 opponents, or fringe contender types who can punch and are not old or on a losing streak. This to me suggests they are worried about his chin, and possibly his stamina.

Joshua is also second i believe only to Mike Tyson going the least rounds in first 20 fights ,if he can k.o Wlad quickly and get a fast k.o in his 20th fight he may surpass Tyson and with better opposition . Just another stat to look at. However cant see him doing it bc Joshua would need two 1st rnd k.os . Impressive stat anyway ,which is 44 rnds in 18 fights.

Wlad throughout his career has done about 360 rounds ,a huge leap of experience if there was one .

My biggest beef was that he was essentially given the title, and continued with subsequently low-level defenses. That was my problem with Wilder as well. If a fighter is going to claim a belt, then they must up their competition accordingly. No more gimmes and defenses against barely top 15 ranked opponents.

Happy to see the Wlad fight in the works.

He has looked good against everyone he's fought. However we don't know how good he is in different departments like his stamina and his chin is largley untested. Aj got the physical attributes of a champion and it's going to be really intresting to see what he's about when he's fighting someone great.

Like Wildmills, if you own a title then you should be defending that title against the best. Development time is over..

Still need development then you shouldn't have a belt..

Can't fault AJ or Matchroom b/c the IBF decided to take Tyson Fury's title from him for refusing to pay a stepaside fee to allow him the rematch fight with Wladimir.
They had their minds made up that if Fury became their HW titlist, they were going to make him pay up, or put the title up for auction.
Kathy Duva's Glaskov was in line to take a KO loss from Wladimir in February of 2016. She put the money up, and Martin interrupted her ambition, and rightfully took it to Great Britain and sold it to Anthony Joshua for big money.
Joshua is paying his dues, making tolerable defenses....yeah, Molina was not a good opponent in a styles matchup, but based on his performance vs Wilder and vs Adamek(shot or not) his resume was solid enough to award him with another shot when it was clear that building up a fight with Wlad needed more time to promote than Dec 10.

If we're having a hard time swallowing Joshua's paydays, title run, we have to give Tyson Fury another scolding.
Had Fury paid his fees, made his rematch with Wlad, then Joshua or Parker would be starching Glaskov and taking the titles from Wlad this year.

Sure wish Wlad had Vitali's chin and punch resistance.
Sadly, Joshua's first real test is coming against a guy with known chin deficiencies that could be exploited if properly pursued.

I'd say Olympian Dominic Brazeale(KO monsour), UD Kassi(don't wanna hear robbery unless you say Kovalev won 117-109 v Ward, and solid wins over the likes of Thomas, Fonseca, Aguilera, Zumbrun, Mendoza, Bisbal, and a very solid Bisbal.

    One thing.

He fought IBF Champion Charles Martin in Martins first defense.
Martin was pounding Glaskov, highly regarded as a TOP contender by most ppl, in his fight for the vacant title. Glaskov buckled and went down injured.
Irregardless, the longtime amatuer with a wide variety of styles matchups, could do nothing with the L hand of Martin before he ate one flush that sent him to the ER and took away his paper title that was bought by Main Events when Fury refused to pay fees.

Joshua's win over Martin is MORE legit than was Wilder's over Stiverne since Martin was a genuine titlist having beaten the IBFs top contender, while Stiverne beat Arreola a couple times to gain theirs.

As for Breazeale, his win over Monsour trumps anything that Fury had done outside of his Chisora wins. The rest of his ledger reads like most title contenders. Not exactly top 20, but close enough to make a solid first defense.

As for the Molina defense. Hearn had 8 weeks to find a suitable replacement for Wlad when he realized he would need more time to promote a Klitschko v Joshua fight.

Blame that on Fury as well.

I heard what you are saying but those opponents never turned up to fight. Martin and Molina were dismal. Braezeale at least covered up and took some rounds. The issue most people have is that they didn't compete. They had the opportunity to, but they decided to wait for the punch on the ropes. If you watch, Joshua just stands there...because he knows nothing is coming back. That is the sad part.
