    Securing a deal with CBS is not good for boxing? :naughty

    When is the last time CBS showed championship fights over the weekend? Answer? About 30 years ago.

    This is the result of Al Haymon. If you think he's bad for boxing, I'll have to completely disagree with you.

    The end game for Haymon is he is going to have all his fighters drop their belts and the PBC will be an organization like the UFC with its own tv deals, rules, rankings, referees, etc. That is if he can get it running and profitable. That is unknown at this time.

    I agree 100% and that is what Haymon is going to have to figure out. He is a smart businessman but this won't be easy but IF and big IF he can figure it out and make it work he will reap millions of dollars. This is not going to happen overnight it might take several years. The first year of the PBC will tell us depending on the ratings he gets etc. It is like he had investors put up capital to do a trial run and see if it can work. If it does it will forever change the sport.

    :lol::rofl:patsch

    Haymon wouldn't be a manager or a promoter. He would own the PBC like the Fertitta brothers own the UFC. Some of you can't see the big picture here. The PBC would be an organization NOT a promotional company.

    You are not understanding this. There would be no outside Promoters just like the UFC does not have outside promoters. UFC fighters do have managers though and I would assume the PBC fighters would also but it would not be Haymon. Haymon would be the King. It would be an organization set up exactly like the UFC but for Boxing. They would have their own referees, rules, rankings etc just like the UFC does and it would not be in violation of any law. Do you understand what I am saying?

    He already has the league set up in the form of the PBC in name so no he would not have to renegotiate any network contracts. I agree it would be hard for him to create this but this is exactly what he wants to do and these time buys are to test the market. He would then hire a guy lets say Richard Schaefer as his President like Dana White is and then he is off doing business. Not saying it would be good for the sport but it if he were able to pull it off he would kill off all the rival promoters in America and would relegate all the ABC orgs worthless also. The UK and Europe could still thrive without the PBC but in America it would be all that mattered again providing he is able to pull it off and that is unknown at this point. But that is what Haymon is aiming for here and what he wants.

    Rico's got a point. Haymon wants to control everything just like a UFC/WWE model.

    He'll have 10-12 fighters per each weight class and create his own belts, rankings, announcers and refs.

    Which is fine, he's signed a truck load of TV deals but fighters in PBC will only be allowed to fight each other. No one from outside (aka all other boxers competing for ABC belts)

    You are the only person saying this and still don't understand this completely. I never said Haymon would. Go look at the UFC business model and apply it to Professional Boxing. Haymon would be Frank Fertitta and he would hire anyone just use Shaefer as an example as a 'Dana White'. That is not illegal for him to do that. Haymon doesn't want to be a manager/adviser he wants to own the whole damn thing and put everyone else out of business. Nothing can stop him from terminating his existing deals with his fighters and having them join the PBC aka UFC. Dan Rafael had a great article a while back explaining this whole process.
