It's hard to make anything land consistently against Edgar, what you need is variety. If you catch him with something, he'll adapt to it. Maynard was still throwing the uppercut later in the fight but it wasn't getting close. Aldo is the only guy with the variety in his striking at that weight to carry a standing threat into the later rounds.

The first punch that lands flush on him sends him careening across the cage on ***** street and the reason it hasn't been capitalized on yet is because the best finisher that he fought, Penn, never landed solidly on him, and Maynard, for whatever raw power he might possess, isn't a polished striker and is exceedingly predictable, particularly when he has his man hurt. It's not that Edgar is "cold" at the beginning, or his reflexes, or whatever other bull**** denial you can come up with, it's that he doesn't take a ****ing punch well and you can bank on that.:deal
