Pretty sure his father fought Wlad when Wlad was near prime. Leapai Jr struggled a bit in his first fight, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt considering it was literally his first fight. He has a nice inside game for someone his age, although his footwork needs improvement.
Alex Jr has world class size, strength & punching power. He's also got a pretty good chin based on what I've seen of his early fights b/c he's been hit hard. The blokes he's fought have tried to beat him. He's got a lot to learn in the boxing skills department. If they can teach him how to jab that would be a good start. He's a kid all the rugby league clubs in Australia were chasing. Rugby league (different from rugby union) is the main winter sport in Australia in two states & one territory. Alex Jr would have made it in rugby league. I give him a good shot at going as far as dad in boxing & am of the view that he's a vastly better physical specimen. Would benefit greatly from stablemate Aussie Dave Nyika continuing with a professional boxing career. Working with him will improve Alex Jr's skills enormously over time.
I saw him fight on the Aukoso Waterman under card he looked ok for a teenager against an average opponent but you are right the opponent was fat but he didn’t come to lay down. Did Leapai Jnr have any amateur fights? I know that he was training with the Gold Coat Titans for a while.
I'm not aware of him having any amateur fights, MP. Being the son of a professional fighter, presumably he's dabbled in the sport as a kid & done a bit of sparring. Like The Man Mundine, he's going to have to learn on the job over the course of a professional career. I like what I've seen so far. He seems determined & is fun to watch.
Yep at his age they can bring him along slowly there is plenty of time. I don’t know what his reasons were for quitting rugby league because if several clubs were keen on him he’d be making a lot more money playing first grade in the NRL.

He'll go nowhere. His father was bad and got destroyed by Wlad like he was literally nothing, probably one of the least competitive fights ever seen at HW. I think plenty of journeymen would have done far better. Since his father's ability will be watered down even more, the son will be absolutely terrible. The Australian media will promote the hell out of him for their agendas and the boxing business will use the 'brand' and get him to 15-0 before getting some money fight with a British or American brand, or perhaps an old Parker.
Leapai Snr's pro debut against Mark Demori is still up on Youtube. Great fight and Snr looked a lot more seasoned than Jnr did n his first few fights.
How does he sound in interviews? Does he sound like he has a brain between his ears? If so then he has the capacity to learn
