I think behind the K brothers he's one of the best out there... He should just box more often, and I think he is waiting until Vitali is gone to take a shot at the title. I favour him to win against every top 10 boxer except Boystov and the K brothers, so utter trash... don't think so.
An olympic gold medalist, one of the best heavyweight amatuers ever, a pretty sucessful pro career, This man has done everything BUT become the world champion.... And then you got haters like this calling him utter trash I understand critcizing another mans actions, decisions, or beliefs, but calling the guy trash when he has accomplished so much more than you? What does that make the thread starter?? Can mods please change the thread name to anut......douchebag????
While I think Boystov is a better up and comer, there is no denying Povetkin's talent. He has an AWESOME offensive arsenal, as shown against Mora...does things that no top HW has done since...well...the Klitschko's! Triple hooks, uppercuts, the whole package. The problem a lot of people see is "How is this guy going to beat the Klitschko's?"...Povetkin loves the inside and mid-range game but he's not spectacular at long range, where both Klits will try to keep him. And he really hasn't faced any opponents even similar in size to them, so there will always be a question mark next to him until he does fight Wlad or Vitali. Based on styles, however, I think that Haye, Solis, and Boystov are better suited to face a Klitschko and could very well beat them.
I think Atlas is just confusing him by trying to teach him moves that don't come natural to Povetkin. Povetkin didn't need Atlas, just needed someone who could get him in great shape. He's been looking kind of soft and sluggish for a while now.
I don't have much faith in Povetkin either, he's already punked out when Wlad called his number twice. Yet, it's Haye that gets **** for backing out of a fight he was going to get little or no money for taking. Povetkin is far from garbage, but yet he's nothing impressive either. Good workrate, solid skills, well trained, a little undersized, average to above average pop, decent speed. He's however avoided the heavy hitters of the division, for whatever reason. I personally feel his chin is weak, and will be exposed by the first heavy hitter he faces. Which may be either Peter or Wlad next. Who happen to be the heaviest hitters in the current heavyweight division.
Klitschko Klitschko Adamek Arreola Haye Povetkin This is the top talent in the sport right now. One of the "A's" will drop come April 24th. Yes, Povetkin is in the top 5.
Faith or no faith he's winning fights against decent names. I'd like to see him fight Arreola or Peter.
Underline decent. He has dropped his level of competition over the last year and half, ever since beating the likes of Bryd and Chambers. Ever since he was set to fight Wlad, he seems to be running in the other direction. He came up very fast, and had a nice resume with only 16 or 17 fights under his belt. He seems now to be going backwards. I would love to see him up the competition and fight a Sam Peter, and show everyone he can take a punch from a powerful heavyweight. Which is yet to be seen, and I feel a concern if was to fight Wlad next.
I could be wrong but I'd probably bet on Povetkin to beat both Arreola and Peter. Then we have Haye and Adamek.
If he can take a punch, then yes. I'm just not so sure he can. That's my only real doubt with Povetkin, but it's a big one at that. I think Haye would beat him, and Adamek would be a competitve match that could go either way IMO. Adamek is tough guy, who would match pretty well with Povetkin styles wise.
Adamek moves better. He isolates his opponent's weakness and takes advantage when the guard is down. Povetkin not nearly as sneaky. This is just my perception when I see them fight.
