I don’t rate Alexander particularly highly, but I rate Brook even less. His best win is a dubious stoppage over Michael Jennings. Alexander’s is over a sturdy champion in Urango.

Also, Kotelnik’s a quality operator, not some bum. He’d give most everyone in top ten trouble. Yeah, I thought he deserved the win by a couple of points at least, but Alexander didn’t get rolled over or anything.

He may have quit against Bradley, but he was willing to step back into the ring with a bad-ass like Matthysse. And even though he got bashed up he came back strongly in the last two rounds. Did he deserve that win? It was a close, competitive fight and I can see arguments for scoring it either way. Matthysse gave that away by taking it easy after hurting Devon.

I don’t think Brook could beat Kotelnik or Matthysse.

dont get me wrong lads im a brook fan first off, but i really think kell gets very under rated by a lot of people who havnt even seen a lot of him....

the lad has good foot speed, good hand speed, good power and a good chin....im gonna post a vid of brook and a certain time in the vid and watch the way brook executes the pull counter to perfection, its a joy to see to any boxing fan....

OK well brooks jab is far better than Devons it alot more stiffer and so too is his right hand , he also has a better variety of punches and his upper body movement and reflexes are superior all you go on about is Brook having no defence.
You said Mitchell would lose but his upper body movement (which is a defencive element) bamboozled Murray. N`dou would walk through Alexander, Brook had N`dou on the back foot and had him clinging on for dear life at times. Not even Alvarez could do that against N`dou.

Yeah great counter punch, very underated, that taylor goes on about Alexander being more proven i wouldnt call it that its more a case of having more exposure thanks to HBO thats all its down too. Brook hasnt had his chances up until now, personally id say fight Alexander in the states and stop him then Kell might get the exposure he deserves.

You know how I am; usually I'd agree.

But bar Urango, Alexander has looked pretty average every time I've seen him. Brook is merely Euro level at this stage, but at 147 I have no idea of Alexanders capabilities.

I'd probably pick Devon to outmanouver Brook on the back foot, with his flicking jab and slashing combos (since Kotelnik he has seemed to half-throw his punches...kinda' like he's not so sure anymore) but I can see why those are picking Brook, regardless of whether they think he's class or not.

This would be 'battle of the needlessly overrated'

:patsch Exactly. Alexander is more proven. FFS!

Are you telling me that if Brook smashed glass jawed McIntyre, domestic level Lomax and outpointed fringe contender Ndou (a weight class below; although he did beat 'decent' African Bongani Mwelase at the weight, who was at least a genuine Welter) on American TV the wins would hold more weight and be more proving of 'Elite' level ability???

    DFTaylor is spot on.

Alexander did get rolled over by Kotelnik. The fight wasn't remotely close.

Just because he was willing to step back in the ring with a 'bad-ass like Matthysse' doesn't mean he's good.

Matthysse definitely won as well. It was closer than the Kotelnik fight but that's partly due to Kotelnik having a better defense and partly due to the fight only being 10 rounds.

I don't think Brook is great. But he's better than Alexander and bigger than him.

Yeah, I'd expect that against less than stellar DOMESTIC level opposition.

Doesn't mean it will translate as he moves up in class (IMO)

I really don't rate Matthyse either. Although, to be honest he's done alright (and arguably deserved two wins) against two top ten southpaws in a row.

Devon very much appears a lesser Zab IMO. Rather than being a front runner he seems to have a case of 'Dirrell-itis' ;-)

I had it: Kotelnik 117-111 Alexander

Revisionist history! I said I thought Murray would win in a tough, closely-contested fight. I gave Mitchell props for his abilities but it's ****ing laughable if anyone wants to call Mitchell's defence particularly good - he was getting tagged by Murray's slow, limp jab constantly. Bamboozled! You're just imagining things.

That was a dead even fight till the last two rounds of it. And what the **** has that got to do with Brook?

    Upper body movement:patsch

He took a shellacking but landed the sharper shots in between Murrays feather fisted shots.

Daveyboy; you are getting owned by DFT here :yep

you may be right pal, but he still has the technical ability to do the trickier things.....

i think the better opposition your in against the better you perform.

lol the exposure im talking about is based on American TV and with Alexander being given the chances to fight so called better class opposition based on the fact hes under the HBO banner. Exposure in America is the key here if Brook were american he`d be far further up the rankings and would have fought so called better opposition by now, brook has been held back by Fwank ****** , but now hes with matchroom and will go forward. End of the day Alexander is better known in the states due to exposure on american tv and by having more chances due to promotion......
