Ali was more stunned against Cooper than Frazier. He barely knew where he was between rounds after that left hook. There was no 'seeking extra time' by Dundee before the 12th round vs Joe.

I agree that Foster stunned Ali with his one-two combos.
Frazier had him out on his feet in round 11 of fight 1, ALi's eyes totally lose focus when Frazier hits him a monster hook then a short hood right on point of chin.

Also in round 6 of fight 3 with Frazier--don't know how he stayed up!

I don't think at any time Ali was out on his feet against Norton but I do remember one body shot in the middle rounds that Norton threw in the third fight. This was one of the few times I remember Ali being really hurt and covering up to protect himself.

In the late rounds against Larry Holmes, Ali basically looked like a dead man walking, particularly the sequence in the 9th round where Holmes pummels him on the ropes with an uppercut and a nasty body shot. If Holmes didn't hold back like he did or had the mentality of a prime Mike Tyson for that bout, Ali would have been knocked out.

Badly shaken with his head clearing instantly ? - yes.

Actually out on his feet ? - no.

His head clearly instantly against Cooper? Either you watched a different fight to everyone else or you need to get your head out of Clay's arse. My money's on the latter.

Exactly. He's badly shaken and as Harry Carpenter said "he doesn't know where he is, Clay". As if Dundee would have sought extra time if he was fully 'compos mentis'. He was in bad nick. Also, this "he got up after three" crap means nothing. Amir khan got up after three the other week and had no idea what planet he was on.

I don't think they did get much time with with the split gloves ruse.A few seconds ar most-not more. Ali only got out of his daze, when Dundee cracked open the smelling salts.

I think it was about 10 seconds. But still you're right. The fact that Dundee wanted extra time proves he was badly hurt. He's right next to him, he's the trainer, he knows. There's no debate about it.

Shavers had Ali out on his feet for sure. Ali himself said he did not remember the fight. If Shavers called Ali's bluff, he might have scored the KO right then and there.

I have not seen Foster vs Ali.

Definitely, Ali was out and pretty much gone against Shavers. He bs'd his way through the next round until his head cleared.

Look at round 4 of his fight with Foreman. He takes a shot against the ropes, you see him wince and kind of stare vacantly behind his gloves. he definitely was out. Watch it closely.

Bonevena rattled Ali badly. He was on ***** street, but still had his senses about him. Frazier had him out as well. If you recall, before Ali started his facade, he almost hit the floor.

Outside of that, he may have been hurt (most notably by a body shot from larry Holmes in rd 9, by a body shot from a light hitting Jimmy Young) but he always manged a way to fight through it. He was playful on the outside, but deep inside, Ali was a gargoyle!

I'm not sure what out on his feet means ... to me out on your feet and the ref stops the bout .. I have never seen Ali on the verge of being stopped although Frazier was very close in round 11 but blew it in the famous slow walk across the ring ...
The times I've seen him seriously hurt .....

    Doug Jones round 1
    Henry Cooper 1
    Frazier 1, Rds 11 and 15
    Shavers Rd 2

Frazier had him out on his feet in their first fight with a left hook to the body-left hook to the chin combo in I think it was the 11th
Ali was staggering away, not even clowning.
