I know the news came out a while ago about the test. He has been fined and banned for 9 months for taking a diuretic which was on the banned substance list in Nevada. The face this was not picked up prior to the fight shows what a mess the testing is in some places.
Was this the substance that he was reported to have been positive for in the aftermath of the second Guzman fight?
A diuretic is a bit of a weird one, he's cheating on making weight, but it's hardly going to make him any stronger. How do people feel about this, is 9 months a bit harsh?
Yeah, okay he's cheated on the weight. But he was also massively outweighed on the night 9 months is too harsh IMO. We need to go back to same day weigh ins and the original weight classes and one belt. Modern boxing is pissing me off, hence my sporadic posting as of late
Some diuretics can be used as masking agents which is quite often why they are on the lists in the first place.

My opinion is not harsh enough. Boxing is not a 36 minute sport. The 8-10 week training camp is jsut as important and making the weight is a huge part of it.
Ya ye're probably right, it just if in this case he was just trying to lose a last bit of weight, then the context of the fight makes him seem like the good guy. Guzman didn't bother his arse to get even close to getting under the weight. It doesn't make it right I know
In an era of same day weigh ins, Williams would be a middleweight. Boxing would change completely. It would be deeper and more competitive.
Any boxer cheating in any such way should be banned for 4 years minimum. All boxers proven to have used any form of illegal substance to benefit training should be banned for life and have all records and achievements deleted.
Maybe not if he was fighting once a month Also, you think much more highly of him than I do. He's one of the reasons I'm ditching boxing
The other use of a diuretic would be to increase renal clearance..meaning anything more sinister in your blood gets out quicker. JC Chavez jr tested for the same thing in his last fight...he got a 7 month suspension.
