What an up his own ar*e twat you are! Ali said on camera immediately after the fight the punch that knocked Liston down was," either a left hook or a right cross!" He didn't even know what dropped him! No mention of a karate punch , no mention of an anchor punch ,that was all BS added later to make the ending more palatable for gullible prats like you!Seems it worked in your case!

Immediately after the fight Ali was asked which punch dropped Liston and he replied," it was either a right cross or a left hook".Its on the video I posted! He didn't even know what had put Liston down!

Another slant on what Ali shouted to the floored Liston.

"I scream down at him; Get up off that floor,Sonny!
Come on this thing ain't even started yet.Get up and fight ! You're supposed to be so bad!"
Muhammad Ali 1976 ."The Greatest My Own Story" page 118 .

Ali sure wasn't convinced was he.lol
Want another "source" ? You were screaming for them a while ago!

"so are you going to supply us with a source for the Ali quote on the ( Ali anchor Punch thread ) you ran off and forgot??? Or do you have special privilages to post FAKE quoutes with NO source and then TRY and make legit ones others post not valid ??? :b2:

"Get up you bum ,no one will believe this!" Ali to Liston. According to Mcliar! Though he DID get up. lol"

    Here it is!

"Liston toppled over flat on his back.Muhammad now stood over the fallen Liston, screaming Get up and fight sucker....get up and fight, you bum,You're supposed to be so bad...Nobody with believe this!"

Angelo Dundee "My View From The Corner" page 113.!
That's video evidence and both Ali and his Trainer. Good enough for you?No? Here's another !
Ali was as sceptical as his public, and he stood over Liston in disbelief. He waved him up with his gloved hand and snarled at him repeatedly :
"Get up you bum! No one will believe this!".
Dr Ferdie Pacheco M.D " The Fight Doctor" page 73!
So that's Ali himself on video , his trainer, and his personal doctor and cornerman!
I'd say those will do for primary sources!LOL

Found any references to an Anchor Punch in any Jack Johnson book?

    No? You wont either!lol
    Don't you feel a right c*nt now!LOL
    You sad clown![/QUOTE]
You were screaming for sources for the quote I've provided 4, Ali,Dundee,Pacheco ,and Smith.
You're posting on other threads but avoiding this one.
Have the balls to come on this thread and admit I've provided primary sources and that you were wrong!

Liston wanted to take the count, Referee Joe Walcott screwed it up. When a fighter wants to take the count, it's a fix. This was round 1. Liston wasn't damaged and to prove it the fight finished with the two on their feet.

    Fix, Fix, Fix!

Seems to me this anchor punch was in reality an arm punch. Ali hit Liston harder with a right hand before that and he didnt go down. I guess we will never know for sure but knowing Liston was a tough guy and had taken better shots from harder punching guys over his career, that, that punch put him down leaves one wondering if perhaps there might be something to those fix rumors.

It doesn't take much when you land perfectly on the chin.

It looks like Ali caught Liston right on the chin.

Notice how fast Listons head snaps from the punch. And look how his hands hit the canvas.
    He got rocked.

You can also see the 'shockwave' in his shoulder from the punch. That's a shoulder snap punch.

Rez, you cant compare Ali's punch with that clip, no matter the shock waves, the clip showed a guy hauling off and landing a left with his body behind it. A "shoulder snap punch" and an arm punch seems to be the same thing. Hit a heavy bag with that "shoulder snap punch" and then a full punch with your weight behind it there is a difference. Back in the day guys used to slap the extended hand and throw that "shoulder snap punch", meant more as scoring punch than a KO punch. Ali wasnt stopping anybody else as durable as Liston was supposed to be. The right hand landed by Ali was a whole lot harder then that arm punch.

The shoulder snap is like a shockwave inside your body when you unleash a punch.
It's what gives guys like Marciano, Golovkin and Louis thudding power. Shavers described it as a sling shot.
You can tell when you watch them missing a punch, and you see the trajectory of the arm separating from the body and doing a heavy whip lash.

Ali's punch is not an arm punch. You can see his fist starting from his waist. He doesn't just poke out his right. He brings it up by his body vertically, and catapults it over his shoulder with his elbow bent towards Liston.

Rez, look again Ali's punch didnt come from a set Ali he was on the move and he shot it over, Tyson on the other hand is set. Look at the difference in Ali's right hand before that. Even Ali was surprised that's why even he questioned it. Why not slo-mo that first right hand, there is a difference. But if you still see it was a punch that could put a "Liston" out, that's ok, np.

It didn't put him out. It caught him on the temple and disoriented him, and he didn't get an audible count to know when to get up.

I don't know if it took him out.
But he definitely put him down with a clean good punch.

Listons chin is up because he's fully extended with the jab. That was a serious punch Ali landed.

    Respectfully disagree :)

A normal straight right is off the ball of your foot while you twist your body and shoot the arm out straight and bring it back.

Ali's punch follows a whole other trajectory. Look at the baby steps he takes to set himself up. He presses hard against the canvas with his back foot to launch the right hand over and around his shoulder like a sling shot.
