Honestly I'm just going off of what people are telling me, and I know how good lewis Klitschko was so I thought I'd throw that in there. I've only watched the 11th round of the fight when Joshua got the stoppage, but i kept up with the RBR and know they were both on the canvas. So I'm waiting for it to replay on HBO to watch it in its entirety. But now that you say this I'm more anxious to get to it.
Lewis-Vitali was a very good fight but I think it gets slightly overrated and is mostly just remembered nowadays because of the unsavory nature of the stoppage.
Not sure it will be as good if its not live.... Im sure there were some dull rounds that 'seemed' good because I was on the edge of my seat... Im sure the suspense added a layer to the fight that rewatching it, it just wont have. Not saying it wont still be good but I just dont want you to get too disappointed if it doesnt live up to expectations.
If not a classic, and it may well be (I'll have to watch it again to see), it's definitely one of the best HW scraps in a long, long time.
For me personally? It was... because I was more 'into' this matchup, being a lifelong supporter of Wlad, a current supporter of AJ, and I was really sucked into the hype for this fight with their shared history, passing of the torch, ect.... so I was already way more pumped for this one then I was for Vit Lewis (even though I was very pumped for that as well dont get me wrong) Objectively? Without rose tinted glasses, Im not sure man I dont want to be too hasty, Id have to rewatch Vit Lewis, because right now Im still riding the wave of this classic and I feel like saying that to me it was better. But this fight did have some dull rounds where they were waiting on the other or feeling eachother out. I dont remember Vit Lewis having that. But still.... this fight had the kd's, had the high drama, had the great comeback by both guys, the great finish... gahdamn im getting pumped just thinking about it again lol. Ya man Ill say for me its better but again, Im still riding that wave. Maybe in a few days if I rewatch vit lewis Id change my mind. Long ass winded answer to a simple question Drenlou sorry man
You had two big muscular heavyweights, pounding on each other. The fight had back and forth ebb and flow, intrigue, excitement etc.
I've watched boxing for over 30 years!!! This fight was awesome!!!! My wife took the kids out and left me and a few of my friends alone, guys who ive watched fights with over 30 years, Tyson-Douglas, Tyson-Ruddock, Holyfield-Bowe, Holyfield-Dokes, I could go on and on.. WE WERE SCREAMING AT THE TV WE COULDNT EVEN STAY SEATED ON MY COUCH WE WERE LOSING OUR MINDS!!!! I thought it was a GREAT FIGHT!!! I found myself rooting hard for the old man and he damn near pulled it off.
