Bassa too much power, catching Oguma early & often. Shoji hangs on for a while, but the referee has seen enough by the ninth. TKO.
I really, realy, really like Oguma's control of the space. I think he has a good control of distance...I really want to pick him. I guess Oguma ends up in the pocket often enough to lose though...but I think that Oguma makes the distance and I think the decision is close.
I must be losing it, I remember seeing Bassa against Macauley, now on BBC.He won in a fight that was pretty torrid.I give Bassa a slight edge because of his power, I'm assuming that Oguma gets slowed down sufficiently to enable Bassa to inflict enough punishment to take a close dec.
I going with Oguma here boys. I reckon he has what it takes in the jab and footwork department to offset the athletic but sometimes erratic Bassa. Gonna be very close though, as most fights are at this stage of the tourney are, but I think a tidy technician like Oguma can edge it out. Plus southpaw vs orthodox matchup there is a decent chance of a few headclashes..which we all know was Fidel's weakness.
Think I might have to agree with WAR here. Oguma wasn't the most gifted fighter, but he was a warrior that was into plenty of the rough stuff and able to get the better of quicker and more talented fighters like Chan Hee Park, who he outgutted in their rubber match whilst past his best, after (imo) winning the first and losing the second fights in their trilogy. Look for Oguma to lose most of the early rounds but to start charging in with his head and butting Bassa, taking him off his game and then wrenching him along the ropes and landing heavy body shots to swing the tide for the narrowest of wins in the end. 8-7 Shoji.
i fancy Shoji with a late stoppage here. with his rough stuff winning the mid to late rounds and finaly stopping the quite chinny Bassa good fight though
