Don't you think the very fact that you yourself are saying that a man who beat Gans also had some great wins at heavyweight make him a legitimate contender for the top spot? How many other guys of that size have "some great wins at heavyweight"?!

:nono Actually no its not,and I stand firm in my opinion his resume is arguably the best in the last 30 years and even matches up with the best of all time. Go to the Chavez opinions thread on this forum and you will find my reasons.
His resume might not be as lengthy as the other guys on this list,but my list was a combination of HTH skills combined with resumes, I actually have Sanchez beating alot of guys ahead of him in HTh matchups. I had to put him on this list because he was a complete text book fighter with no weakness(except maybe fighting down to opps level) but even then when he fought the greats he picked it up a notch, he still has wins over ATG. IF he would not have died Young Im sure he would have cracked the top 5 or 6
Listen, I do really like Sanchez, but I think you overrate him a bit..... Why do we have to give the benefit of the doubt to boxers who died young.... Are we going to start ranking boxers for what they could have done or what they didn't do because of whatever reasonable explanation??? His resume is only about 126lbs so you must have Sal as numero 1 or 2 ever at that weight class to put him at 17 as ATG..... and even then it is very difficult to put him in 17th place.
Actually i think in a head to head matchup he beats Pep or Sadler, but i did not put him over those guys, because they had an amazing amount of fights against Primo fighters .Although Sanchez destroying guys like Gomez(arguably best pfp at the time) and dominating a Long time champ and atg puncher like Lopez counts for something.Nelson too,he was already an awesom fighter at the young stage of his career. Not too mention all the excellent contenders Sal beat Castillo(one of the best fighters to never win a title) a prime Laporte,Ford,cowdell.
