Nope, Floyd's all about facing world beating fighters like Bruseles, Mitchell, N'Dou, and Sosa. And he's all about making the big fights the fans want, like DLH II:yep

Hey, I think Floyd would beat Cotto by a close decision. But I'd like the fight to get made first and I tend to think that's more a problem on Floyd's end than Cotto's. And to say Floyd hasn't taken tune-up fights that are as "bad" would be a lie.

Ok my turn. You talk about Bruseles, Mitchell, N'dou, and Sosa. But YOU fail to mention or remember Cotto fought Sosa too. And by the time Floyd fought Philip N'dou he was a LIGHTWEIGHT and that was his LAST FIGHT at 135. NOT the same thing at all. Totally different weight class and situation. Floyd fought Mitchell, ok. He originally WANTED Judah or Mosley for that night. Then Henry Bruseles. A guy who's main SPARRING partner for that fight was indeed Cotto himself. They said Cotto did a great job copying Floyd's style in the gym... Yeah ok:roll: And what about Cotto? Do you consider Gianluca Branco, Oktay Urkal, and Carlos Quintana to be big names?:rofl Especially over the oppositon Floyd has fought? I bet you probably do:-(

I believe that as long as Cotto is at his best, and has an actual game plan other than hit the body and box if u get tired, he does get the stoppage. If not, than we'll have a dissapointing UD by Cotto, unless some kind of twisted destiny call happens and Cotto suffers a terrible ZaB/Baldomir night. Well, I sure hope thats not the case, and Cotto actually shines that night, and others will just look for reasons to say that Gomez was a no one in the first place and he never belonged in the ring with Cotto and Floyd doesnt have to fight him...

Brussles was a WBC Elim. Mitchell was a warm up fight for 147 Like Quitana for Cotto.

Ndou and Sosa weren't warm up fights.

Cotto-Gomez isn't a warmup fight its a stay busy while my promoter hypes up Margarito.

Cintron, Clottey and Margo were readily available. Arum wouldn't allow Cotto-Cintron to happen unless Cintron vacated for Clottey... yet he makes Cintron-Margo. Lol..

you also forgot to mention NDOU was highly rated and a dangerous puncher. some thought he might stop PBF. and Mitchell was to test the WW waters. so for his first fight at 147 not bad at all hell PAUL williams fought mitchel as well. gomez is just a recognition fight to get him in with some one that doesn't pose a threat to future plans but is at least world recognized based on his tv exposure. plus his last 2 fight were ppv and didn't draw superstar #'s. they are hoping this fight will improve his fan base with an expeted all action beat down . funny thing is, i've seen this same script b4 and usally this is when big time plans get ruined . history speeks for itself . i think cotto wins but im starting to get a gut feeling :think

Even if Gomez were able to somehow outbox Cotto for 12 rounds, aslong as Cotto is still standing on his feet there is no way the judges would allow a Cotto lost.

I hope Gomez beats him. So that way people can stop with all this Mayweather being scared of Cotto crap:-( But I doubt it though. I'll admit Cotto is not Gatti and will give Gomez a much better fight. But still never the less he can't beat Floyd. If Cotto retired having fought 50 fights, and won 49 that one 1 loss WOULD be to Floyd Mayweather:D

N'Dou had beaten absolutely no one of note, same with Bruseles(a fight in which Floyd discussed sports outcomes with Lampley while actually fighting, showing you how seriously he took Bruseles) and Sosa. Mitchell was once a very good 140 guy, but at the time was completely shot and fighting above his best weight at 147. The ultimate point is none of those guys belonged in the ring with Floyd at the time. Gomez at least brings a little bit of capability/marketability to the table.

And yes, Cotto did fight some of the same guys and hasn't fought all world beaters either. However, he's not regarded as the number 1 P4P guy, nor does he make statements to that effect, then handpick a fight that serves little purpose and one that most fight fans don't want to see. Plus, we have no idea what Floyd will do after DLH, he's downplayed Cotto when asked about him, and Cotto's resume is arguably the strongest at Welter. As you said, Cotto is fighting Gomez as a lead-in to a big fight.

The reason Arum was willing to make Cintron-Margarito over Cotto-Cintron was for money, since he figures a unification match between Margarito and Cotto would be a good seller compared to Cintron-Cotto. It screws Clottey somewhat, but Clottey had a title shot earlier/doesn't sell tickets is the reasoning there.
