Only hardcore fans knew about Martinez, but perhaps the Canelo-Lopez fight on the same night wasn't helping in sells either.

 

This could be right in all honesty, it's not like there has been some historical build for Canelo-Cotto and it's finally happening, no undefeated records either. It's just Mexico's #1 against PR's. If you're wondering whether that says Floyd's fight beats theirs no matter what I don't think so. If they end up fighting on the same night for cinco, Cotto-Canelo fight I believe easily cannibalizes Floyd's fight. I think somewhere between two thirds and three quarters of would be Floyd's buyers would be buying Cotto-Canelo that night because of a combination of the promise of a more exciting fight and it being cinco.

When the boxing world and public want a fight, most of the time it can do great numbers. you add Canelo as the most popular mexican fighter today and lots of casuals know him. to Cotto whos the best Puertorcian fighter today and alot of casuals know him, you get a super fight.
