Kovalev’s lack of stamina isn’t the under training or over training or drinking or whatever else we’ve heard. Kovalev as an athlete is simply over the hill. This drastic drop off in mid 30s is seen with athletes in almost every sport. Kovalev’s physiology simply isn’t what it used to be few years ago. At this point he is purely running on will. He could buy another 5 years at peak with TRT but that isn’t Kovalev’s style I am sure.
I’ve not seen the fight as I can’t bear to watch it lol but I agree based off him being up and just his overall record you’d have to have him favourite.
Yep pretty much this, maybe a younger Kovalev could get away with not training 100% as he could rely on his talent but not now, there’s a reason Floyd seemed to train harder than ever into his late thirties as he knew he had to,to avoid slipping up against younger lesser fighters. This is why you’ll never hear me knocking the careers of unbeaten fighters like Golovkin or Floyd as we’ve seen plenty examples of guys losing to opponents with lesser talent, just ask DeGale and now Kovalev lol?
It’s a big if though in as much as it looks like it’s his inability to work with anyone that’s at fault,if he’s no trainer there to push him as appose to being a yes man,I’m afraid Kovalev will never redeem himself.
Lol you know that, you’ll have to forgive CST80 as he hasn’t been right since AJ v Parker lol(quite right too as that was a joke of a fight).
Although I thoroughly enjoy all the agony the Kov loses bring his sack sucking delusional fans , I agree that Kov got caught with a shot he didn't see and should win the rematch, provided he doesn't get caught with a blind shot again.
It's a mute point saying a fighter was winning before he was stopped if he was so utterly gassed out by getting that advantage. That said, Kov is the better boxer and if he can somehow be bothered to train and live right - not just once the rematch is made but from right now until he steps in the ring - then I think he wins. He might even snare a stoppage. But.... I don't think he's prepared to make those sacrifices....
Yeah. Although I like lwderman as a judge usually. And I think I was only one round off his card. It wasn't that the score was so much closer than his, but the fight itself. I just felt that apart from the fourth, and Alvalez working his way back into it after that, Alvarez's shots were landing better and cleaner. That's going to be real tough for Job to change, especially considering his track record and age.
Kovalev needs either to make adjustments or get an early knockout, the last time he got a stoppage win vs an A level opponent was 3 years ago. He can make adjustments but Duva is claiming it was a fluke victory if kovalev feels the same he might make no adjustments thinking he'll win easily.
I think Kovalev believes his aura of the Krusher still 100% exists, and takes the rematch, if he doesn't take the rematch that's sort of admitting he lost. (something he refuses, he blamed his trainer on a bad camp)
