Am I missing something about Danny Garcia?

    Khan was a lucky punch, I'm sure he didn't plot out with Angel the perfect shot to close Matthysse's eye. You have to admit he got lucky with those shots.

    Morales was shot, as was Judah, but were legit wins even though they were past their prime.
    Danny is not bad, but he's not as good as his defenders make him out to be.

    I'm a fan of his and I don't see anyone making him out to be highly skilled or great. But fact is, he's the man at 140. Winning's winning.

    I do agree with this. He has earned his standing atop the division.

    To answer the OP, I can't speak for others, but I certainly don't hate Danny Garcia. He seems like a very cool dude.

    However, I don't like the recent trend. Herrera was supposed to be the soft touch, not exactly a top contender. Ok , he had unexpected trouble and received a favorable decision, it sucks, but all in all, no big deal. But to double down now on softening the opposition, and fighting a guy nowhere near worthy of a title shot speaks poorly for the future.

    I think he's trying to stay undefeated before moving up to 147. People say he should be fighting Peterson, but he got KO'd in 3 rounds against Matthysse. Peterson needs to earn his shot. Although Salka is not a worthy opponent either.

    Peterson is highly ranked and a title holder. That is a far, far cry from Salka. I'd sign for that fight in a heartbeat. As a matter of fact there are quite a few fighters in between who I'd rather see as well.

    If the purpose is to remain undefeated, fine. But his people cannot then turn around and wonder why people are giving them **** for it.

    We all know trying to avenge his loss to Herrera would have been the right thing for Garcia to do.

    Herrera was not a soft touch alot of people including Danny thought he would be, I fully expected what happened in that fight, it was reminiscent of the Donaire Rigo fight eveyone thought Donaire would walk though him, he was soft touch I knew it wasn't the case there as well.
    I thought Herrera was going to be a nightmare for Danny which proved to be the case, just because someone isn't popular or well known doesn't mean they are a soft touch. Look at Algieri and Provo which I also predicted.

    I'm also predicting Salka will not be a walk in the park, he's very crafty and could prove to be a huge mistake as well, he's got a similar style to Herrera which perplexed me as to why they picked him for Danny, unless its a dry run for a Herrera rematch, which I doubt.

    We'll see I guess. Herrera, despite having a pretty good resume, was not lauded as a great opponent. He was a step down for Garcia after the enormous win over Matthysse.

    Upsets happen, that's for sure, so anything is possible. Maybe we'll get lucky and one or 2 of the fights on the card will be entertaining.

    I was evidently Herrera's only fan before the fight, you should watch his fights if you haven't he's always been an underrated boxer.

    That's my point though they are not always upsets, its just that people tend not to expect very much due to lack of name recognition, and assume the star will win, sometimes the underdog is only the underdog in name only.

    I' e seen him fight a bunch of times. He's a FNF staple. I like him. I'm just saying he was not exactly the type of opponent expected for Garcia after Matthysse. Especially after the demand for a rematch of that fight.

    I don't have a problem with Herrera as an opponent, at all. But he was a bit of a step down considering what was expected. Hell, I'd sign for a rematch right now. He earnt it. But he isn't the kind of guy you fight at THIS stage of a career if you're looking to be a star.

    Salka is nowhere near.

    As long as there is someone working hard, there will be people hating.

    Danny seems like a good dude. Humble, and a hard worker. So the whole "he's ****y" thing doesn't fit.

    He's fun to watch, and rises to the level of competition/event for the most part.

    There's really nothing to dislike about him. People just enjoy criticizing. It's been like that, and it'll stay like that.

    I wouldn't look too much into it. He's doing a good job in my eyes.

    Your right about Salka, but he is just pesky enough to trouble Garcia and steal a few close rounds not win though.
