When this fight was announced i knew Lacy didnt have the tools to beat JC. I couldnt understand how the hype machine got behind Jeff and made him out to be more than he was. I like Jeff. He has a great attitude and will fight anyone. But he was green and well in over his head. He simply didnt have the experience nor the style to trouble Joe. I expected an easy UD but not a beat down like that. Lacy simply wasnt in the fight and got beat from pillar to post and had no ideas whatsoever as to what to do. If his corner had any heart they would have pulled him out or at least asked him to use other tactics other than following Joe around the ring and eating leather.

its a myth though that Calzaghe ruined Lacy

In fact Tsypko ruined Lacy much much more than Calzaghe, even though Calzaghe gave him the bigger beating

Im sure that after the end of the 1st round he went back to his corner and told his father that Lacy "was ****"

As much as it was a great victory in terms of how one sided it was i dont know wether it was masterful nor even important. I never liked the fight in the first place. I knew JC would win a fairly easy UD and Lacy was simply too green and too stymied. He doesnt possess a jab. He hardly moves his head. The comparisons to Tyson were just asinine. And he simply loads up all the time looking for the KO as if he has that Julian Jackson type power which he doesnt. He is an excellent puncher but thats providing he can land on a static target. The kid was simply very very overrated and got exposed badly. I just wish his cnr had pulled him out. Mentally he could be very much scarred from the bout. I hope he comes back though his a welcome addition. But as long as JC`s around he`ll never hold a belt.

I see it the same way. I actually like both fighters (JC and Lacy), and it was enraging to see the level Lacy got ripped down to, simply because other people were embarrassed they'd hyped him that much. Lacy didn't deserve near the hate he got on this board after that- he still kept coming out, round after round as the fight was getting more lopsided and he was taking more and more punishment. He showed alot more heart than his supposed "fans" did.

His corner should've stepped up and stopped the fight. You can't expect a fighter like Lacy to make that decision in a fight like that.

i had lacy to win with a TKO under round 10 and i remember the posts here at that time nearly ALL forum members had lacy to win me included i was shocked how good calzaghe was, as dan bormingham said he is a talent he things ranks almost the best he has seen, and his distance and timing were the best examples he has seen

I watched it again recently. I had forgotton how much Calzaghe was grabbing Lacy's left arm. Fair enough I suppose, you do what the ref lets you get away with.

all i ever see from you are posts shitting on calzaghe. it really would pain you to give him praise, wouldnt it? i mean, thats what you post after rewatching the fight? an almost flawless performance (well, about as close as anyone can get) and all you can comment on is calzaghe's holding. pathetic.

and anyway, the holding..its called ring generalship, controlling the fight with your experience. he held when he had to but by the end of the fight it was lacy doing the holding from sheer exhaustion.
