¿ What about Rigondeaux / Cordoba ? , Rigo had only 6 fights and Cordoba wasn't past his prime ... remember , the cubans are the exeption of the rule . Peace .

Not the current Olympic Champs , most of them are Asians who got gift desitions at the last games , if they fight pros now ALL of them will surely lose . Peace .

Dude ... ¿ Don't you understand the politics of the pro game ? , the cuban ELITE boxers are AVOIDED like a plague , only when there's a REAL interest ( money ) by the boxing fans or there's a mandatory in place those ranked fighters step up and take the challenge , sometimes not even that is enough and they get offered step aside money whenever posible , the truth is that Cuban boxers are wired since childhood to fight ANYBODY , like they say in Cuba : " fear is not good " ( el miedo no sirve ) , it's psychologycal for them , the better the oposition the better they perform ( Williams / Lara ) . Floyd Mayweather avoided Casamayor a lot , even when Casa was past his prime , so I don't know what you're talking about , when talking about boxing the cubans are a diferent breed and everybody who makes a living in boxing from promoters to fighters knows it , only the boxing fans get confused and think otherwise . Peace .

From 2013 the headgear is gone and the way amateur bouts have been scored for a couple of years now with only clear power shots being counted it is close to pro boxing. You don't see fighters scoring 40 points like they did 5 years ago, a high score now is 15 for most fights.

I have to admit head gear gives **** all protection, people act like its a pillow for your head or something. It weighs a couple of ounces and offers minimal protection. If you get hit with a punch like a uppercut, you are going to feelt eh full force of it. Anyine who has even sparred a few rounds knows headgear looks a lot more protective than it really is.

In saying that, pros obviously have more physically tougher contests, but also amateurs have to compete multiple times during a week against top fighters, so its not a walk in the park on the physical side in the ams either.

I have a feeling you have this bias because of where you're from.

    Just a guess.

Then why do all the pros wear it for sparring?:think

I admit they're not pillows, but they do make a difference.
