Along with the fact that Eastern Euros can now box professionally, whereas under communist rule they couldn't.

 

Burger King and McDonalds.They are all fat.They went from Tyson type of athlete to Buterbean and Areola type of fatass.they should all compete in their own division : FATSO division.

 

who does the USA have better than Haye/Fury/Price/Chisora?

I think its a combination of several of the things mentioned, no exposure, large american athletesfootball are more likely to play american football, basketball, euros being allowed to go pro.

Eastern european athletes are allowed to turn pro..
13-15 years later the HW scene is dominated by eastern euros..

 

Also the US. is still "dumpster diving" for HW prospects. Checking out boys home, working with "at risk" kids and street hoodlums. And that just wont work in what is now a global boxing scene..........America must look only for the best, not just the hoodlums that will end up in prison without help...

 

Boxing isn't really that popular in America anymore and it's been this way for awhile. Outside of Mayweather and Pacquiao nobody cares. For the last 20 plus years Americans have been getting involved in other sports like basketball, football and even soccer a lot more than they have boxing.

Boxing along with tennis has seen a big decline in U.S. participation for years now. Those two sports are almost irrelevant here. Despite what some of you want to believe, it has nothing to do with the Klitchsko's or anything like that. Rahman, Bird, Ruiz and Briggs being the last few U.S. born champions will easily show you how bad heavyweight boxing has gotten here. Are any of you dumb enough to believe that any of them were anywhere near as good as Holyfield, Ali or Holmes?

 

Eddie Chambers/Tony Thompson/Chris Arrola. If not for his humiliating loss to Wladimir Calvin Brock would still probably be around. Don't you Brits make too much out of Chisora having one good night vs that Anders Eklund want-a-be......

 

and what has Arreola done? Thompson? Nothing, Chambers? nothing, Haye alone has achived more than them 3 combined (he disgraced himself against wlad but even so)

 

Fair post and mostly true.
But with Lennox and then the bros being the king pins since the 90's it really hasn't helped matters. To disregard this viewpoint is ignorant i think.

I think a lot of you Americans would rather just say we have lost interest now has it's lost it's luster, rather than admit the competition just got hotter and you haven't really got guys with the hunger or talent to match it. Even if it is for the reasons you stated i know you guys would love to see the top ten stacked with US guys.

Don't get me wrong on this though because i think it is better for the sport if the US has good HW's on the scene, no mistaking that. I would always like to see good Americans in the mix.

Just don't pass off Lewis and the Bros dominance as irrelevant. Your interest in the sport was waning before, but these men added to it a great deal also.

 

And what has Haye done? Out run Valuev and Wladimir? Hell! We all knew he could do that if he didn't slip and fall...This is boxing, not a track meet! Chisora? He's 0-2 vs other top ten fighters! Price? Has he even fought a top 20 fighter? You Brits get the bighead easy!

Lewis was one of my favortie fighters and I've been rooting against Holyfield since I was a kid. Which one do you think I wanted to win when they fought each other? I would never try to disrespect Lewis and I admit that he was an ATG.

Saying that Americans have lost interest is not an excuse. That's just the way it is. You basically said what I was getting at when you admitted that the talent isn't there from the U.S. This heavyweight division is one of the worst in history and people have been saying that since Lewis retired. That was when guys like Bird, Ruiz and Brewster held the belts and I don't remember anyone complaining about the criticism that division got back then. Do you honestly believe this is a great era in heavyweight boxing? You don't know much about boxing history if you do.
