Read a lot on this site about Kahns chin but lets compare him to some top level fighters and see if its all so bad. Cotto Manny Oscar antonio margarito All have 2 ko losses to their names, who else?
What do the ko losses have to do with Amir Khan's chin? That's liek claiming Vitali hits harder than Foreman and Tyson because of his ko ratio. They have all MUCH better chins than Khan
I don't think Khan has that bad of a chin, yeah it's no Carl Froch but it's more his lack of defence and balance what let him down.
It's nowhere near as bad as portrayed. Was just watching Garcia-Khan again and in the fourth where he throws an uppercut, he got hit with one hell of a right hook and didn't move, along with plenty of lefts and rights throughout.
Much better than the haters on here like to claim Not world class but solid He just eats big shots because of his style Someone like manny with a cast iron chin can do that but amir really should work on defense
Archie Moore got knocked out cold in one round by Leonard Morrow before he became champ. Is Moore Chinny?
A ko loss is a ko loss. So if he gets up and wins as he has in all but two of his fights then what is the problem?
It's bad because his defence is also terrible. Bad chin + bad defence + lack of power = bad recipe. Left hooks and temple shots are what seem to hurt Khan.
Khan's chin is in a league of its own. The only person who can share a fragile stamped package with Khan is Audley Harrison.
His chin is clearly a serious weakness anyone with a half decent punch can hurt him. His chin get's tested all to often though due to his lack of defensive skills and ring intelligence.
Oscar, Margarito and Manny all have chins made of absolute granite. In fact, the first 2 could have legitimate cases for top 20 of all time. None of their stoppages were down to poor chins, they were down to either fighting on past their best, being weight drained, being too young or taking a severe beating. Cotto is a bit different, admittedly. I wouldn't go as far to say he has poor punch resistance as he has - at times - displayed the ability to take a punch, and even a beating on quite a few occasions (Floyd, Pacquiao, Margarito and at times against Clottey). He looked vulnerable in a few fights at 140, but he was very tight at the weight and he seemed very sturdy when he first moved to 147. He took some hellacious shots from respected punchers like Judah, Mosley and Clottey before the Margarito beating. I think the stoppage was more down to fatigue than poor punch resistance tbh, he seemed to mentally wilt a bit which is understandable in a sport where we - as fans - often resquest and even expect more than should be expected. We ask fighters to go beyond the call of duty for our entertainment and expect them to endanger their lives when they have families to provide for. I don't like the whole "glass jaw" thing and i really don't like slating fighters, but - by world level standards - Amir Khan has poor punch resistance and all the guys on the list have considerably better chins, especially the first three guys mentioned.
What age is Khan, and what age are they? If this thread is bumped in 6 to 8 years, it'll be instantly apparent how stupid it is. His chin is china, end of story, and he will be knocked down many times and knocked out several times before his career is over.
