IMO, It's gonna be Venom for Ricky... Poor Hatton is gonna be out of his element with FMSr. as his trainer. (Paulie might pick him apart if Ricky think's he has style now, This ain't Rocky III) That said, I go Hatton..:good
Well the kid has one of the worst Chins in the sport. How do you figure he is going to do when he has to face a hard puncher again? How should I have answered? He will never go anywhere because: A. He knows he has a Glass Jaw B. All of his future opponents know he has a Glass Jaw His confidence has got to be shot to bits also. His opponents are just going to put pressure on him form the beginning and try to shatter that Glass Jaw. He will get no respect from any of his future opponents.
He could depending on his mentality after such a brutal KO. But there is no doubt the boy has got a **** load of talent and some decent skills. He has a lot of holes defensively which he can't have if his Chin isn't that good. But many are being extremely hard on Khan b/c of his intial HYPE and how he was KO by a TRULY POWER PUNCHER! Let's not forget that ANYONE can be KO'd....NOT everyone has a beard like James Toney. Kahn made a defensive mistake and paid for it dearly. That kind of KO can derail the brightest of starts and sometimes it makes them that much better. Kahn is a talented kid....he has soild skills and a great AM background....that doesn't necessarily mean he's WORLD CHAMPION bound but that is a great foundation to work with. He's still young and workign with a TOP trainer. Kahn is doing the right things to get back on track and I wouldn't say he's going nowhere in Boxing Just yet b/c this is one loss, early in his career and Kahn made a big move in order to correct the problem which caused him to loose for the very first time. Saying Kahn doesn't have a chin is pretty unfair considering the columbian fighter had a lot of powr and his KO ratio proves that.
It was decent pad work. But with any new trainer you have to learn and work his method. Roach is doing basic Pad work with Kahn.....obviously working on technique and learning how to put combo together. ONce thy get into a true Trainer/boxer rythm the pad work will be a lot better and look a lot sharper. Roach is also looking to give Kahn better footwork....like Pacquio although Pacs foot work is unorthodox a lot of the time. With Kahn he's a more schooled boxer...his foot work will come together, he just needs to reprogram his AM feet to what is more successful as a pro and with Roach's help I believe he'll get it together. The postitives with Kahn is that he's young, eager to learn and taking his career into his own hands by seeking a professor in the sport to compliment his talent......We'll see if the chemistry is there or if Kahn's KO loss is too much for him to come back from Mentally.
Naw bro....Floyd isn't stupid...he's not going to re-invent the wheel. He'll just add some accent to Hattons Rawness. Give him some direction regarding how to throw a punch to the body at an angle where Paulie can't counter, implement more head movment, improve his "D" a bit...but not changing his Style completly. Floyd will work on Hatton's timing and how he can place his shots more effectively. I don't think we'll be seeing FLoyd's famous "Shoulder Roll" just yet from Hatton....What Foyd will do is make Hatton a more complete boxer who's strength is his aggressive style and committment to going to the body. I see a fight similar to how Cotto beat Paulie but maybe ending in a KO for the Hit man.
Not everyone has a Fluid style.....your avatar is showing a boxer who is a prime example of not having fulidity. But Tito didn't need to be fluid with the style he had.
***an can punch to an extent. If he can take Khan's punches for a few minutes he knows he can win....all it takes it a decent enough punch to land on Khan's chin and it's over. I honestly don't think Khan's chin is good enough to stop journeymen and gatekeepers from catching. ***an is his own size as well. People will say, well how did he beat all of those other guys if his chin is THAT bad? There were total non-punchers. Willie Limond isn't a massive puncher and Khan barely survived him. Micheal Gomez, past his best and out of his favoured weight class (though he has since scored two stoppages at 140 against limited opposition) had Khan in pain not just from the barely a shot in the 2nd round but from a body shot in the 4th that really hurt Khan. He just isn't that tough, which is a shame, because with his handspeed he could be in some really entertaining scraps.
I havent seen the clip? As for the assumption that becuase Roach is being paid he must be good.......not really true. There is a well known football manager called Mick McCarthy who seems to always get teams to manage.......when Sunderland kept losing all he could offer was 'oh well you win, you lose some'.....'we didnt score if we did we would have won' or 'we are just unlucky' I mean those kind of comments are so general......that i laugh everytim he gets a job! (even if wolves are doing ok....most likely the players rather than the manager). Watch and analyse.....Amir...........no hating just flaws that he cant afford to have.....i mean hell if it was George Foreman or Vitali Klit who both murder the boxing texbook.....and do everything wrong then i have no problems but only becuase both me are huge, strong.....and something about there bone struture....which makes them so hard to move or hurt or even put down. I always think......a power puncher like Morrison chose to box instead of come after foreman......now that is respect. Anyhow......Amir just dosent have the abilty to take a shot....so he needs to adopt a style where he counters this weakness.
Roach is a good trainer. Put it this way; when Pac was scouring the USA for any trainer to take him, but was being passed over like a fat chick in a club....Roach saw something in him. And the rest folks is history.
it was not just the Prescott fight though. If it was I would agree with what you posted. Khan was getting knocked down by guys with extememly low KO rates. His Chin is a huge problem and is much worse than the normal Glass Jaw we usually see.
