Well it is odd when people from the same small country disloike one of their own best fighters.

It would be slightly more understandable for foreigners not to like him, but felow english people?

Irishny, definitely has a point. However, a lot of British ****stanis give him a great deal of grief. He's even recently commented about this on twitter.

To his and his family credit, they've always supported England and been of the belief that their family members should play/box for the country of their birth.

I remember being at Edgbaston when ****stan where playing against England, and his cousin[Saj Mahmood] who was bowling for England, received a torrent of abuse from a fair amount of ****stani fans. Quite a lot of ****stanis see him and his family as 'coconuts'. Naz who's of Arab origin got a lot more 'love'. In my own circle of ****stani friends, Haye, is a much bigger attraction. Amir, isn't liked, and the reason given are beyond stupid and ridiculous. It's the reason why I'm a fan of Amir.

He just doesn't appeal to the hardcore fans on either side. That's his biggest problem. It's these fans who then bring swathes of other casual fans to the fights and generate an interest. Regardless of the booking times of arenas, the guy's fighting in Sheffield which says it all. He's also been unfortunate that as an Asian boxer, he hails from Bolton. A city with a small ****stani population.

Regardless of these reasons, the hate he gets on here is unwarranted.

I believe he was genuine when he said he got a lot more 'love' from Americans. It's sad, but it is what is.

Ffs even ****stanis, his own people can't stand him. Says it all man. Could have a bit to do with race. And I see where you're coming from. But most of the time it's mainly cause he's just a twat.

Surely English people are "his own people". He was born in Bolton, raised there, won an Olympic medal for Britain.

But if its a personality thing. To each their own. I dont see it. Seems like a regular confident boxer to me.

Certainly not on the Carl Froch level of arrogance.

    :deal

Froch is just as arrogant as Khan, even more so in fact. Khan is no more or less arrogant than most boxers today, he's just not the sharpest knife in the draw, which is why he sometimes puts his foot in his mouth on occasion.

I'm going to laugh my ass off if Khan ends up winning this "tournament" and picking up most of the belts at 140, the bitter tears will be great

You're right. Its perfectly common among English people to hate one of their own best fighters...right?

The guy actually isnt particularly arrogant,as anyone who has seen an intervew with him can tell.
Hes certainly not as arrogant as someone like Froch, whi is loved in England.

Hes an exciting fighter, who gives exciting fights, and isnt afraid to fight the best.

Hatton got KTFO againstPacquiao after being beaten up by Mayweather, afyer he had told everyone that he'd beat both of them.

Yet Hatton is widely loved and no one considers him arrogant.

The English tend to be ultra patriotic and back their fighters, yet this one in particular, many seem to hate.

    I wonder why?
