But it’s not promoted by matchroom. Eddie himself says it’s an auction. The two fighters want the most money and will go to the highest bidder, whether that’s matchroom/DAZN, SKY, BT or ITV or whoever
I'll throw my hat into the ring and bid half a Twix and a packet of Quavers to hold the fight in my back yard. They can decide between them who gets the Twix or Quavers. I've just been out with the tape measure and my yard is big enough, but the ring with have to be rectangular as the shed is in the way. Give the fight what it deserves.
It is a nothing fight really, Khan is retired and to call Brook shot would be a compliment. Wouldnt surprise me if Khan made him boil down to 145lb just to take the p*ss, It will be on PPV. In their heads it sells close to a million PPV. Sky will play off their egos and take the fight with little risk, giving them small guarantees and then dangling the PPV upside carrot that these buffoons won't be able to resist. If it is at 150lb on DAZN I am all for it. Household names, backstory, calling the fight for what it is (their retirement fight), and not having to pay above subscription for it.
I would happily pay for a meeting with promoters and Brook and Khan with the promoters telling them you boys are finished this is not a good fight anymore and be some laugh see ego of both guys go nuts.
Sky need something, their home boxing content is non existent. But I wouldn’t rule out ITV after the relative success of the Eubank / WBSS PPVs
Box Office is all the same scam to me whether on Sly Sports, BT Sports or other. There is certainly a huge noticeable hole on Sky Sports with domestic boxing content at present which I cannot see continuing. Hopefully discussions going on in the background with all non Matchroom promoters to fill the void. BT up for sale and even Frank is now sitting at a wobbly table. They should all get together and map out decent fights between them.
Unless there is some left field bid I’d say this a lock for Sky Box Office. Difficult to pick out a clear favourite because of inactivity from both fighters.
Hope you're right, the Top Rank cards on Sky have been good so far IMO (even got the Pac fight tomorrow) however there's not enough of them and they don't have the same atmosphere as domestic cards plus the earlier starting time. Fingers crossed there's work going on behind the scenes to get something sorted.
The only place this deserves to be is the chief support to the Spice Girls Reunion. Edit. Forget the Spice Girls, more like "Steps"!!
