You are absolutely right on this. And I agree with what you have been saying about religion. The thing is there is this silly notion that all religions should be respected. Because of that, it seems to all these people that you are the one out of line when you criticize religions. However, these people are the ones lacking a critical thinking faculty. Religion is opium for the masses, hence this reaction to you. When you bring up religion, people start claiming to be offended and make ad-hominem attacks, which has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Religions are facts and ideas that should be debated and scrutinized considering the damage they have done to humanity. For that reason I am with you on your general position. Having said that, I don't think this thread is the best place to be engaging in this talk.
It's a joke to you, which I won't deprive you of. But my father right now is bi-polar(insane) and proclaiming he is Jesus of nazareth and come to rescue man. So to you religion is just some harmless ideology. In reality there are people who take it seriously and take it to the level of hurting/killing other people. I will not put up with this. It won't permeate in any society I live in. I'll fight it til the day it dies.

No. I never said that. You are putting words into my mouth a tendency of the exact people who you seem to be bashing. I agree that in some cases religion and in particular extremist versions of them are disgustingly misguided and discriminate, torture , kill and harm others for the smallest of things. This shouldn't be tolerated and i believe it isn't, even by people who seem to follow the same (version) of said religion. I don't believe in a superior being as words that have been written by man changed and passed down many generations i believe isn't the most credible source of God. And various scientific studies that have shown human beings are designed evolutionary to have a so called 'God gene' that automatically nudges us to believe in the supernatural when something bad happens. Anyways I do respect and sometimes admire the billions of peaceful believers that are in the world today and don't generalise entire sects for what a few may have done. I agree with some of the points you are making but they way you are doing so is actually shredding any substance your arguments might have. ps: religion is a ***** indeed
