Amnat Ruenroeng vs. McWilliams Arroyo RBR

Me too. I've (despite inexplicably garnering a "*****" reputation on here) rooted against him in most of his fights over the last several years and would've liked to have seen him defeated legitimately, but I don't want to see it just happen because he's old. He deserves to not have that happen, whatever you feel about him.

 

Yaegashi probably fight at light flyweight next. Could be Inoue who is #3 this time in 2015 at Fly.

The most controversial part was that the referee (from the US) kept stopping rounds at the clacker...silly old fool!

 

Correct. Arroyo's camp has a major gripe where the officiating is concerned, but not the judging.

The range of scores was perfectly acceptable, if anything the card with Arroyo up a point was maybe a tad generous to him.

Pat Russell did screw up - a lot, mostly to Arroyo's detriment and Ruenroeng's benefit ...though I chalk it up to him simply being too old to maintain control of such a fast-paced and chaotic match. Incompetence, rather than corruption, is my read on it.

In addition to ending several rounds prematurely at the warning clap instead of the actual bell, he failed to issue warnings or point deductions to Ruenroeng for his many fouls including excessive holding, shoving and body-slamming. The few warnings he did hand out were addressed to both fighters even though Arroyo was pretty much clean as a whistle.

 

Haven't watched the fight yet but I read from here that he reportedly has offers to fight against Roman Gonzalez, Naoya Inoue, and Zou Shiming. I hope he fights Gonzalez, cause I want more unifications.

 

I hope he loses to Shiming and that Gonzalez gets a payday in Macau after that.

Ruenroeng still clowns fraud Shiming.

 

Yeah...Estrada and Inoue could both actually be Northbound. (while he'll probably make a pitstop at fly I don't know how long before he outgrows even that and he won't be looking to drag his feet, it will be the big fights like Gonzo or bust and if the feel of the water isn't to his liking he'll probably make it easier on himself, pull his toes out, and find a bigger, warmer pool..)

Yaegashi could be southbound.

Really we might end up with Chocolatito, Ioka, Viloria, Ruenroeng and Reveco as the best five, with everyone from 2 on down conceivably interchangeable depending on what they do.

I suppose Casimero is ostensibly campaigning at fly now as well though he still hasn't debuted there...and I'm honestly not sure he is better than any of the five above.

Segura's out. Fuentes is as ever a nearly-man. Mthalane is treading water, but still relevant enough to be a maybe although he is long of tooth for the weight. I was never sold on Melindo really. Arroyo needs a few years' more seasoning, but he will be the goods.

Ruenroeng would clown him - but they'd probably still 'find a way' to give it to Zou just because he was flashing his little combos (even if he missed 90% of them and got zapped with counters all night...er, morning)

I'll give him that, his work rate and stamina to keep it up does make it easier to rig things in his favor.

Horrid accuracy for a Gold medalist, though. Absolutely horrid.

 

Back to Floyd.

You can say what you want about Floyd and his unwillingness to take risks, but nobody in the sport works harder than he does.

I honestly don't see anyone beating him.
