I never seen anybody disagree with the scoring of the fight clearly in Bute's favor. It is also clear that Bute could not hurt Andrade (that is not so easy at all) and Andrades only chance was to get a stoppage.
As mentioned previously the final flurry of Andrde's attack begins with a tremendous headbutt that I think really affected Bute.Tyhere were a few more during the fight.
The fact that other referees either did not apply the rules correctly or did not notice the infraction is hardly cause to criticise one who did. Again the referee was correct in his awareness of the situation though. Bute's fitness to continue would only be a factor if the fight was ongoing. As the fight was over the only relevant factor was whether he could get up. Comparing that to a situation where a fighter is stopped during an ongoing fight is to compare two completely different situations.
That really doesnt matter... A lot of fights have been stopped for less... The safety of the fighters is the refs main priority in the ring. You could argue that the Bute - Andrade ref put Butes health in jeopardy by not stopping the fight, when Bute clearly was in no condition to defend himself.
So you are saying that other refs are wrong and this one was right? Next time we have the right to scream outrage, when a boxer leaves his corner and the the count continues? About the second part? Are you absolutely sure that you are right here? I have seen others that have claimed that the boxer shall be in a state where he can continue.
I posted the relevant IBF rules on the first page of this thread. I think they're crystal clear personally. Could you be more specific which part you find arguable?
That is one oppinion... The controversy in this fight lies in what oppinion you choose on that matter. In my oppinion the best fighter won the fight, but I wouldnt have any problems with the outcome if the ref had stopped Bute in the 12.
Well if Andrade is truly bettre he will stop him in the rematch. He will have his chance to get revenge.
What ref would stop a championship fight 30 seconds before the end, without any solid punch? Andrade was tired himself and was not able to land. It took him 30 seconds to land a single shot (plus the headbutt of course). And by the way, there were headbutts by Andrade, but he was also continuously charging Bute, not to land punches, he was too close to punch, but to tire him, to push him. So, is that legal in boxing to wrestle? I don't think so. The ref also works for Andrade's coach for years. Grant said himself Wright was a personal friend of his. So, no local refereeing here. Finally, read the posts 2 months ago before writing please.
Bute had to get up only. Did he suceed? yes then you have a winner. Is it a good win? no , its tainted, and Bute said it he aint proud of it, expect Bute to give a more brutal schooling next time to Andrade
