Forgot to even watch it so I'm doing so now. Berto was stupid and sloppy as hell at the end of round 6. Could have finished it if he did any of A) going to the body B) picking his punches more C) throwing anything other than the right hand all the time, instead he gets caught by the same two punches in a row and gets knocked down. And Steward said 'neither guy made a mistake'. Berto's defence is atrocious. He must be rivalling Pascal for dumbest world-level fighter on the planet.
Ortiz was a man on a mission. Posessed. See, one loss doesn't end a career.. i.e. Ortiz learned something from the Maidana debacle.
Great fight though. Ortiz is really growing on me, very classy interview and Berto conducted himself well after aswell.
This. I was happy with the post fight interview from both. Glad Berto didn't make a bunch of BS excuses.
A Great Fight from Start to Finish. I think props should be given to the Referee because he allowed them to keep fighting and War-Through being Hurt. Because a "Quick-Stoppage" kind of Ref could've ruin this fight. In the 1st and the 6th....a shitty ref couldv'e ruin this fight. So in the end....ESB Posters got what they wanted; A BERTO LOSS AND A GREAT FIGHT. It's amazing how some fighters are RESPECTED MORE...AFTER THEY LOSE. Two Young Stars in the Sport handled their Win/Loss with Class. Lets hope for the Best in the Future...and could this possibly turn into a Big-Time Rivalry and a Trilogy in the future? Berto is 27 and Ortiz is 24. I mean if you look at the "Tale of the Tape"....It has the makings of Good Rivalry: Black vs Mexican - Eastcoast vs Westcoast - Righty vs Lefty - Boxer vs Puncher. I could see them fighting again in a couple of years. Could be better than Oscar vs Mosley.
