An unbiased ref wouldn't have let Ward continue to hit Kessler in the face, obviously. He should have broken them up sooner, like before the fight ever started, to prevent Kessler from looking completely outclassed.

Kessler hung on for dear life as often as Ward initiated clinches. The butts were unfortunate, but also a product of Kessler's robotic upper body movement.

:thumbsup ward utterly neutralized kessler. he could have fought him any way there is and still mopped him up. ward is one of the smartest fighters out there. he knows exactly what he's doing and it sure as hell isn't dirty.

stfu and give the guy some credit for beating (sorry, embarrassing) the guy everyone was picking as the favorite.

I thought the ref was biased as well, though not to the degree that he could've changed outcome of the fight. I just laughed when I heard "Quit holding him Mikkel.."

Anyway, you can still criticize aspects of the fight while still giving Ward credit. It is what it is.

That's a shame, and it hurts the sport and its legitimacy. Very unsatisfying fight and the second fight of the tournament so far to leave a bad taste in fans' mouths.

Showtime and those involved in the tournament have to get better refs and make sure this kind of thing does not happen in the future, no matter where the bout is fought. Only Abraham-Taylor had a clean ending and after three fights, that's not good enough.
