because staying in the boxing capital of the world "Denmark" for the rest of his career would have been a good idea? Props to him coming over to the u.s. and getting his ass kicked. the result would have been the same in any ring , in any state, in any country. deal with it
"getting a passport" is a last resort jab/insult anyone can come up with andre ward, the #1 guy at 168 by a mile. he beat the **** out of kessler and froch. he doesnt need "respect" from dumb ass fans who hate him now because he doesnt "travel". big ****ing deal. and Dawson called out Ward and challenged him at 168...so what? Is ward supposed to say, "oh ok, i accecpt your challenge at 168, but if you would like, i will come up to your division since you were so kind to ask" :rofl nice try at bashing Ward. but facts are facts. he is the man at 168, undefeated and has victories over froch, kessler and Dawson :hi: People come to America, i dont make the rules, its always been that way....get over it
So people are demanding that Ward rematches Kessler in Denmark and Froch in Nottingham. Somehow I doubt Kessler and Froch are as keen on the idea of getting schooled in front of their home town fans as some of you guys are.
No ones disputed the fact he's the current No.1 at his weight as far as I can see. But if you don't think his stock and bank balance wouldn't rise if he fought away from Oakland once in a while you're deluded.
Hopkins says he will never fight Ward out of respect so read into that what you will but that's not going to happen. Martinez is a big fight but he's out for the year so could be an option after his next fight. Chavez Jr fights in August so that's another possibility down the line. Right now though there isn't much on the table for him.
This could happen. Stieglitz blew the guy away Abraham just didn't want it that night. Anyone think golovkin is a possibility? He fights in June, supposing he gets the W which he probably will that could set up Ward-Golovkin match in September. Ward has spoke about this and said it's gonna be 'down the road' sometime so thats another unlikely scenario for his next opponent. :think
it doesn't matter is the result would be the same. Fact is Kessler brought his belt to Okland as the champ. Kessler and Froch are clearly the best after Ward @ 168 The Kessler/Froch winner has every right to fight Ward in there Home Country and Ward would probably make more money there too
HW boxers usually come to europe to fight for a belt and beside Ward all top guys @ 168 are not from north america i mean it's ok for the champ to have more fight at home than on the road but at some point you have to prove yourself on foreign soil. Kessler did it as a champ (Calzaghe, Mundine, Ward) , Froch did it as a Champ (Taylor,Kessler, Ward).
I think the best move for Ward, and it's one he's spoke about, is to fight the Froch-Kessler in their country because it silences critics who say he doesn't travel, it's a big payday in a unification bout and Froch or Kessler get a chance to avenge their defeats. This is the fight to me that makes most sense and is the one I want to see most.
They used to. Unfortunately some fighters idea of the big time isn't fighting in front of 5000 overweight gamblers in a 10000 seater arena. Let's face it HBO and Shotime are the only reason anyone wants to fight in America anymore.
Take that **** elsewhere man this thread is about Andre Ward news/fight suggestions etc no need for this to be here.
as a fan, i would like nothing more than for ward to go over there and defend his title. if i were him i would do it because he would make more money than the **** money they give him over here in the u.s. all i am saying is he isnt obligated nor should he been looked down upon when he beat down the top guys the way he did. had they been close fights, maybe different story. i'm all for him traveling and i hope he does.
