If you noticed Ward didn't fight against Taylor or Dirrell in the s6 tournament, which could have gave him some troubles ?! He fought against "robotic/static" fighters and besides that he fought in his backyard. I won't say that he didn't beat fair&square Abraham , Green , Froch and Kessler ( with the exception of those illegal headbutts ) , not at all , I'm just thinking that he had some carefully chosen matches :yep:deal.
no doubt about that. I think Showtime's plan was to set up the Supersix to make Ward a big TV attraction that one of the reasons the had all fight in the US most in his Hometown and friendly judges.
Yes, they thought probably to create a new Floyd Mayweather jr at SMW / LHW division but Ward isn't a marketable / sellable fighter , he has a boring peronality imo and this thing don't draw/attract audience. the plan : - Andre Ward - 2008 gold Olympic medalist. - creat a tourney and bring "the best smw on the planet" ( Ward , at that time didn't had a resume :hey , he fought with nobody :yep , same situation with Andre Dirrell , Green and Abraham. -match carefully Ward in his backyard with mechanical euro fighters , allow him to "get inside" with his third arm ( the lead headbutt ) and win the tourney .:yep ....... Why SHO didn't bring/invite Andrade , Bika and Bute in that s6 tournament ?!
yes i think so 2, that was the ideea , s6 ''the best 6 at SMH'' ,but when the touney started only kess and froch were in top 6 if i remember wright. But for me the most embarrassed moment was after the final when he said the he doesnt fight bute coz he fought nobady ...:scaredas::scaredas::scaredas::!::!:
Ward said that after the s6 tourney that only fight that comes into his mind is against Bute . After he won that competition he said that Bute has to prove himself against Kessler/Froch or Dirrell to earn a shot against him . Now Bute will fight against Froch for that shot , so i'm very curious if Ward will take the fight against Bute ( if Bute will beat convincingly Froch ) or will ask another "prove fights" ?!:think:hey
deal most probably will say .. awwwmmm bute shoud fight dirrell coz he s the real deal, not some boxer that i beat with one hand....:rofl:rofl atsch
true , but how long coz he need to fight somebody(his mandatory ) kess is at 175, andre direl is not fightin coz they are m8s ,froch, is busy , same bute maybe a. stevenson, we will see
Ward will fight his mandatory's, why because he wants to make a bit a money with guys who can't really beat him. He has had a hard road...with no real...financial benit for his efforts....yes he has respect...but respect and belts don't feed children.... The money men of division Bute & Kessler...are placing Ward in an arkward position.... Follow Kessler up to LHW and possibly having to fight him in Denmark...for big money or fight Bute for big money whether in the US or Canada, but the risk is if he losses his stock goes down and there may not be as many big fights on the horizen.
the problem is that fighting his mandatory = no money(well a lot of money) imo he is not a crowd pleasing fighter, so how much payers can he attract ?even with tony direl or magee , not so much... As a proof the S6 final had about 6k and about 4k actually paying ... so i believe he neds bute froch or kess more then they need him.
Well , if you're the best you've to fight with the best ! Bute said that he's willing to fight Ward in Oakland after the s6 tournament ended but Ward declined this proposal ! Ward isn't a draw and if he wants to get some money for his retirement he has to take some risks in this business ! Ward was so protected by the SHO and this thing wasn't fair for the other s6 participants.
I tell you what, I wanted to put this for a long time. This content is protected http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/boxing/16235989
LMAO at Gus Johnson acting like the fight was stopped and Ward won by TKO. Nice job making a fool out of himself YET again. If the ref stops the fight because of a head clash ... you don't win by TKO .. what a goon. **as for Ward, wonder what Showtime can do to try and make him more mainstream.
