According to Barreras manager, the fight is essentially done The team behind Sullivan Barrera believe they are catching Andre Ward at the right time...... According to Luis Molina, the manager of Barrera, a deal is practically wrapped up to face Ward (28-0, 15 KOs) on March 26 in Oakland, as the main event of an HBO card. Since July of 2015, Barrera (17-0, 12 KO) had been tempted with an offer from Ward team, but the talks did not come to fruition and the boxer ended up facing Karo Murat in an IBF final light heavyweight eliminator. "These last few weeks have been a lot of negotiations,'' said Molina to George Ebro. "I just asked for two things: being on HBO and fair financial parameters for our boxer. They complied with that and we are happy to face a great opponent like Ward.''
And according to ward '@sullivanbarrera only time in going to respond to you buddy. You can call us JC Penny, we ain't got no money for you. Not getting rich off us😂' Ward really needs to fight Barrera or at least a light heavy of similar standing or else he will look bad
One statement doesnt contradict the other. The Ward statement could just be Ward saying to not be asking for more money than what was agreed upon. That quote I posted is from today. Unless something has happened since, this fight looks basically done
But this isn't a good fight. People shouldn't be complaining it I getting canned. He should be facing top ten opposition.
Actually this is a good fight, Barrera is very decent and may be in some people's top 10 list. LHW is stacked, even guys outside of top 10 are pretty damn good.
I feel his has an injury, or injuries which are making him lose self belief. Just think a while back what he did in the super 6. For me that was a fine performance from start to finish, and showed true mental strength. Something is not right, be it mental or physical I really like the guy, so hopefully he can take some more meaningful fights soon
