Experience at the top level counts for a lot IMO. Gotta go with Miranda +260. Miranda is far more proven and tested against far superior opposition. Ward, while a well-rounded fighter, doesn't do any one thing spectacularly. He is the jack of all trades, master of none... and he's never seen the kind pressure and power Miranda will bring.
This is Wards coming out party. Don't do a Hatton and remortgage your house or anything - but put something on the gold medalist to win.
Let's not overlook the fact that Andre Ward was a gold medalist. He has seen it all before. At one moment in time in 2004 - he was the absolute best in his class. Unlike modern boxing organizations where one can go after any one of six different world championships in one weight class - there is only one way to win that Olympic gold medal and that is by beating everyone else in the world.
The Kost fight was his fourth pro fight wasn't it? Ward has had time to become properly seasoned since then.
Even if you're betting Ward, I'd think long and hard about waiting another couple days and hedging it by taking Miranda by KO, which should get you even better odds than the +290. Ward by UD or Miranda KO really look like the most likely outcomes.
Allen Green barely threw any punches that fight. It was damn frustrating to watch. Green outboxed Miranda when he actually did anything, but he seemed frozen half the fight.
we can unequivocally say that miranda has competed with a higher class of fighter than ward, but i don't think it's necessarily an advantage because miranda lost in 3 of those fights. i think ward is better than any fighter miranda has actually beaten, including green i like green a lot, but i also like randall bailey a lot... ward is better than that class of figher
