Greb beat Tunney just once out of 5 fights. Whats that meant to prove?

Yeah, it would be nice to do a bit more than just looking at boxrec. Some of Tunney's wins were disputed by people who watched the fight (to say the least).

You can also show Loughran, Tommy and Mike Gibbons, Walker... plenty of fighters who look GREAT on film.

One win over Tunney is far better than anything on Ward's resume

No way Ward fights 15 rounds on the inside with Greb.

Ruleset? Is this in a 1919 ring or a 2015 one? Glove size? Attached thumbs? Modern or classic boots? Training camp lengths? Scoring rules - 1919 or 2015? PEDs? Referee inclinations? Same day weigh in?

I know this is a bait thread but at least put some effort into it. You need to specify this stuff when matching disparate eras.

15 rounds, 2015 ring, they can use their own normal respective gloves and boots that they fight in the pros with to make the match more fair(it wont matter because Ward outclasses him regardless). That answers the attached thumb question. 1919 scoring rules and rules in general to make the match more fair. PEDs ? Sure because every fighter uses them nowadays. The last 2 aren't going to affect the outcome really.

In my honest opinion you could make practically everything in favor of Greb and I'd still favor Ward to school him as long as he has modern gloves and shoes he's comfortable with

Ward is way more skilled, of course he's gonna school him.

I'd say an old school guy like Gene Tunney looked proficient on film during his fights and especially during his sparring, good footwork and mobility, great jab, slipped and countered, set up his combinations well. He was good. Watch him. but he was in there with guys who had abysmal technique and 0 defense. Im sure Ward would look like a supreme deity on film if he fought the same Calibre of opponents Tunney did at LHW.

Sorry, I meant to say Ward, don't know why I wrote Greb. I've just edited my post.
Anyway, old timers stand no chance against more modern counterparts

At one point he leaps off the canvas with two feet. Different sport back then. In todays era he'd not be any better than Fabio Wardley

Thats not really the point of the matter. . We know guys have off nights and have all sorts of excuses these days if they take a loss. How do we know Tunny didn't have an off night when he lost to Harry?
He had foguht 6 times in 5 months going into the fight. . Maybe Tunny with a full modern day training camp beats Harry 10 times outa 10.
We really have no idea how good this guy was. . Wins/losses back then were mostly circumstantial

Doesn't matter, because it doesn't suit his agenda.
