tbf, thats why people give Calzaghe the nod at the moment. Because Calzaghe lasted a long long time and put in a few good performances at an age when you'd expect him to be past prime (Kessler, Lacy). Obviously he also took a lot of cowardzaghe fights too that he was guaranteed to win - old hopkins, roy and most of those guys between eubank up till he signed for Lacy.

His highlights are far too few, and thats why double champ already Andre will supercede him by the time hes 30 if he beats Dawson and pretty much anyone left at SMW. Then it will be safe to say that ANdre is mentally strong enough as well as having better ability than Cal (which he already has). This poll taken in two years time will be a landslide fo Ward if he keeps it together, Calzaghe will progressively move down the ranks of the best SMWs from thereon since other unified SMW champs will continue to supercede his mini-title WBO efforts.

30 years from now, I predict Calzaghe will end up as the John L Sullivan of SMW - a tough guy to beat but inevitably a class below the many undisputed/unified SMWs to come in the future.

Very true. Ward has yet to be pressed hard. Nobody has yet to see the complete Andre Ward.

Calzaghe was a sweet fighter, and a grown man by the time America saw him. He takes the amateur to school.
