It doesn't make sense to me that Andre was scared of Bute, and then went and fought Dawson instead.

    You're missing the point.

Unless Andre had psychic powers, he couldn't have known for certain Chad was going to be drained.

In my opinion, it's illogical that Andre would have ducked Bute to then fight Chad. Chad was more proven, he had speed, skills and power, and he was also a big southpaw like Bute.

Well he obviously assumed he was going to be being Dawson hadn't fought at 168 in years. Do you think if James DeGale offered Sergey Kovalev a fight at 168, he'd be expecting the same Kovalev that is tearing through the Light Heavyweight division?

Do you think if Dawson offered him a fight at 175 Ward would've took it? Because I've seen things before that Ward would not even entertain the idea of anything above 168.

There is also the fact that Dawson is probably one of the few fighters on earth with a smaller fanbase than Andre 'The A-side' Ward, so agreed to every demand that Ward threw their way including weight demands. And one of the boxing scene writers said on twiiter the other day that Dawson's camp asked for additional testing and in typical Ward the PED cheat fashion he turned them down.

I thought he may have have had issues with the weight, but I had no idea the hell he went through until John Scully spoke out.

I can't see a fighter signing to fight a dangerous guy and hoping to hell that he's going to struggle.

In my opinion, if he really was scared of Bute, he'd never have taken the chance with Dawson. It just doesn't make sense.

Dawson made a big mistake though by showing his cards all at once. I think they should have done a catch-weight.

Bute was a massive hype job who ducked his entire division. Ward right now would lose max 2 rounds to 2011 Bute. Obviously he wouldn't beat the **** out of him a la Froch.

But that's the thing, the fight would never had happened at a catchweight.

Would Ward have fought Bute? Yes I think he would if and only if:

    - The fight happened in Oakalnd
    - Ward could pick the ref/ judges/ ring size/ glove type
    - Ward could make any demands he wished on catchweight/ rehydration clauses than only benefited him
    - Ward has a far higher split than Bute
    - No addtional drug testing occurred
    - He had a rematch clauses should he lose with all the same clauses as the first fight

Bare in mind, Ward has never even entertained the idea of allowing an opponent an advantage, even in the Super 6 he refused to fight Dirrell and Froch on mutual turf. And if you watch the first episode of inside the super 6, he was very nearly thrown out altogether because he wasn't willing to travel (and you can see from Goosen's reaction what a nightmare he is to deal with, Goosen was in Germany at the time and said there is no way he can ask Andre to do that over the phone)

See the first episode here at 10.20 and 16.55

No version of Bute would have stood a chance against Ward

Bute was not in Wards class. Bute didn't belong in the super 6 either.

Mutual turf? Does Ward have joint real estate ventures with both Dirrell and Froch?

I think Bute did belong in it, but he stayed out. He wouldv'e been exposed much sooner, probably wouldn't have even gotten to the semis...

It was a good move for Bute, he got to fight all leftovers in his backyard while the real talent was in the S6, it elevated his hype as some elite fighter. Bute was delirious for thinking he was on even ground with Ward after Ward won the S6.
