Why is it, when a good up and coming fighter wins, people have to start making such stupid threads I like Ward, he's a good talent and will hit big things in the future. But so far, his three biggest wins are Edison Miranda, Mikkel Kessler, and Allan Green. Hardly an ATG's record, and not enough to consider him against SRR
I'm not going to say Ward would win this fight, but I am not going to say Robinson is going to walk through him either. Ward is very physical and I say that he wins 3 or 4 rounds against Robinson based on physicality and a dominant inside game.
Ward would have a good 15lbs on Robinson in the ring, even for the great Robinson that is too much. Robinson fought once about 160lbs against Maxim and got stopped late, albeit with heat exhaustion, Ward is allot better/quicker than Maxim and would land more with his fast hands, the size disparity is too much for the Sugar man
I can see now that Ward will be another fighter that won't get credit until he's long gone. When you're good people want to see you lose. If they can't see it in the ring, they will make it up in their heads. Ray Robinson was great but not unbeatable. I'm not favoring Ward over Robinson but usually Ray is the guy that most people seem to dig up. He's like the bully of the block that nobody wants a piece of.
It was never some outrageous mismatch in Ray's favor. Ray started his career as a lightweight, and was an ATG at WW (consensus #1 ever) and an ATG at MW. Ward would likely have about a 15 lb. weight advantge in the ring. If you wanted to have an exaggeration back in 2010 about Ward, you could have matched him up with guys like Michae Spinks and Bob Foster, not a guy who peaked at 147 lbs.
