This really annoys me, especially coming from fighters who always claim to prepare well (Froch and Haye, I'm looking at you )
Some people are just going through the boxing vocabulary, which maybe cliched but have been validated over and over...i think of them as not cliches, but rather timeless truths.
"KTFO" and The whole concept of comparing fighters "Head to head". Particularly ones from different eras. It's like taking P4P to the extreme!
''Educated Pressure'' Believe Billy Graham started it off and used it in many interviews and then he was asked on SKY (Ringside) ''what does effective pressure mean???'' Billy's Reply was to stutter and try and workout how to explain the cliche he used umpteen times in interviews. It's a nice a cliche but used way to much for people who want to sound smart and knowledgeable without actually having the wit and knowledge to break down the key points to effectively pressurizing there opponent.

Hatton was a swarmer more than a pressure fighter – he overwhelmed with activity and aggression, but there wasn’t a defined gameplan much of the time, other than running the guy over. You’re right though, it is a cliché and very few fighters have the skill set to do it.

There is a distinction between educated and effective pressure I suppose. I mean effective is truely what it says, any style of pressure that is effective. Any style can be effective, its rather meaningless. Educated is something else. I think of that as a specific style in itself. JCC or Roberto Duran are classic exponents. Not just pressure in terms of hunting an opponent down and throwing punches, its more cerebral. Moving the head, lateral movement, always thinking of the transition between attack and defence, feints, working the openings to head and body. Hatton was never at any stage educated so Graham had no business talking about it anyway. He never moved his head or thought about defence.
Yeah your right it does mean something and it's a nice one to fling out but i was shocked when Graham who banded it about struggled to give a proper definition. Person i been guilty of using it myself :--(
