Another (additional) reason Floyd left HBO for Showtime: Lampley's nascent racism?

again, i believe floyd didn't switch to showtime willingly.

gbp likely gave him an ultimatum, if he doesn't agree to fight on showtime, he can forget about gbp guaranteeing his purse.

    I don't see it.

Floyd never seemed to be bothered with Lampley. Merchant isn't even commentating anymore

Nah neither one is racist, but they are cheerleaders, with Merchant being more than willing to throw his favorite fighters under the bus if they lose embarrassing (like KO'd early), or use too much movement to win fights. Merchant all but throw Wlad under the bus when he loss to Sanders, basically writing him off as the next big bust, as if he would never rebound and was exposed forever.

Lampley really doesnt like Mayweather, and will be all over his opponent whenever they throw punches, which miss entirely, or are completely blocked.

I got 6 minutes in and all I see is Lampley being more of a Pac homer than Floyd besides the "ghetto" slip-up, which was ignorant.

The video does raise good points about their bias but takes it out of context a bit. Ortiz grinning in a fight against Floyd is completely different than Floyd grinning in a fight against Ortiz. Same thing with Ortiz landing on Floyd, considered something of an anomaly, and Floyd ripping into Ortiz, which was quite impressive but Lederman was yapping. Another example, Manny coming back and changing angles rapidly after doing poorly (losing consecutive rounds) against Marquez is a different scenario than Floyd patiently throwing single shots and retreating while ahead. Same with Jones. The level of importance and excitement is different given the context.

But it's clear Lampley has his biases. The rambling about PED's and Marquez on his show, and the preceeding whine-fest about the robbery against Bradley with no mention of JMM-Pac 3 being equally as bad, etc. But I don't think he hates on Floyd. Merchant is just hard to please, he wants action.

That DLH-Floyd segment was a bit ridiculous though. They act like DLH put on the gutsiest, rawest performance in the last decade against Floyd. Fans like different things but geez.

Bull****, for more than half of his career he chose to be the bad guy to spice things up. Now with that choice, what makes you think that hate or even racist remarks would get to him?

This is all about money, HBO was outguned. They came into a firefight with a knife. That is all there is to it.

    No racism, just severe bias.

even though he was recycling alot of material and gettin abit stale on the show, i am guna miss the HBO 24/7 shows with floyd building upto a fight, they prob are the best produced promos for fights, the intos and finales to each episode always get you amped up for the fights

I always considered Lampley gay for ODLH and Pac, but not racist.

It was amusing watching him, on his show the week after the Floyd/Oscar fight, diss Floyd to his face and give DLH a blowjob on national television. He tried to tell viewers what fans should appreciate, going as far as to **** on his very own next-in-line PPV attraction.

The fans didn't listen, luckily for HBO; they continued to buy Mayweather's fights.
