I like both sports.......... But tonight Dana White is making his biggest star (Lesnar) fight a guy who could legitimately beat him and ruin his career - the UFC's biggest stars' career. Dana is thinking I lose a star but I make another. Now lets look at another sport I love: Boxing * David Haye refusing to fight Wladimir * Floyd ducking Pac Man * Dirrell refusing to fight Ward * Pavlik ducking anyone (and still loosing to a guy 1/2 weights below him) * EVERYONE refusing to fight Wlad This year has been terrible for me as a boxing fan. In UFC you can't pull **** like this. You fight or you leave no discussions and while I agree I prefer boxing's multi promoter system and lack of overall 'dictatorship' I also feel UFC has sorta embarrasedd boxing too. I am not sure whether a single body ruling boxing - like Dana does UFC - will work in boxing. I think that sorta thing is more dangerous than productive but still.......I'm ****ing pissed with the **** that ruined my year's boxing and UFC meanwhile looks better and better..... In reality that's the only thing the UFC has on boxing, is it's abilities to make the big fights with ease. Still, their fighters get ****ed on pay and can be easily dropped because it's an organization not the sport itself. Plus kids go from WWE to UFC with ease, cause they see their main stream stars going there as well.
Well tbh I would rather pay £120 and get several great UFC fights than pay £120 and watch Haye fight an old man and several boring undercards. Even though boxing is my first love..... P.S. Heathers was Winonas' Best movie (Yeah I'm a child of the 80's)
UFC aint beaten ****. The sport will lose alot of fans when this hype winds down and young tough guys realize wearing a tapout shirt dosent make you invincible after all.
Thanks for reminding me this is on. to correct your thoughts boxig ha been around for millenium and has great tradition. ufc is a fad and will die out in my opinion, their fighters are treated like carthorses and not paid like they should. Also the top ufc fighters dnt have long shelf dates and expire preety quickly and are running out of stars. still i enjoy their cards
Easy to make big fights in UFC when there is only one promoter and he's also your boss that tells you who you HAVE TO fight. But lets see how easy it is to make fights against other top fighters in different organizations.
Heathers is certainly wonderful but my top 5 would be... 1. The Age of Innocence 2. Edward Scissorhands 3. Beetlejuice 4. Heathers 5. Lucas
Exactly UFC is not MMA. Making the big fights in UFC is easy enough but making the big fights in MMA is a different story for some reason a lot of fans can't see this.
Any result of the Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velaszquez fight? It is today in UFC 121. You cvould be a boxing and UFC/mma fan at the same time. George St. Pierre is one hell of a fighter!
Makes me wish the tournament format was still used by American companies. A strikeforce v UFC tournament would be a huge money maker.
There would be some great fights on there. Even if it wasn't champions vs Champions just a cross promotion card. Light heavy & Heavy would be great.
It's incredible how MMA fans purposely forget that a large number of fights will never happen under the current system, but they have the nerve to lecture boxing fans. Fedor vs Couture (2007) and vs Brock (2008-2010) were the major HW fights to be made. Tonights fight is very good, but in terms of legacy it doesn't compare.
Two examples since 2007? Take Fedors name out of the equation and you havent got many Pac, Cotto, Margarito, v Mayweather Vitali v Haye Wlad v Haye Calzaghe v Pavlik Now thats just 6 off the top of my head. And as far as lecturing goes, it's normally a boxing fan who starts these type of threads, not always, but most of the time
