I like me Ward better. Both good prospects and future champs, I figure. But future greats? Cannot see it.
Dirrell by UD ... great step up in competition ... will be a tough test for Dirrell but not a serious enough threat to beat him. Stevenson wasn't in his league ... Dirrell was more polished than him ... he knew what Stevensons strengths were and didn't let him be effective. Hanshaw is a stepping stone and is going to get out classed ... Dirrell has been sparring with some top level guys including LHW champion Chad Dawson. I think that he's on his way to stardom ... The biggest knock on him that I had was that he wasn't using the ring properly ... Stevenson was just following him around not really cutting off the ring, if he would've pivoted or took a 1/2 step to the side he couldve opened Stevenson up for the brutal combo's. I'm sure he's gotten better since the fight with Stevenson ... In addition to that he's only 25 and his body isn't filled out to its full potential - once that happens and he starts to commit to his punches ... you're going to see him knock people out.
Anyone know anything about Juan Castaneda in the first fight that night? I've seen DeMarco fight, but, don't know anything about Castaneda.
Although, i'm not sure what was worse: him running like a cheetah or Steven's complete inability to cut off the ring. He was clueless as to how to do it.
Both were very dissapointing. I was pumped for the fight and rightfully so.2 young guns putting there stock on the line.Doesnt happen often enough where 2 up and comers face eachother so early in there careers. Boy what a stinker it was.
Hanshaw should get it hes a real fighter he dont run for his life plus he cuts the ring off nicely. Hanshaw could be a world Champ hes just had bad managment for a guy with a fantastic amateur background like he has. Hanshaw just fought tough with ATG Roy Jones thats an experience Dirrell cant **** with.
Stevens had one shot at winning that fight, and that was to land a haymatcher. Dirrell didnt even give him a chance to do that. Call what you like, I call it fighting smart and winning a tough fight. I expect him to fight smart and beat Hanshaw as well.
