Well given he survived a war with Mike Tyson, yeah. His losses to Holyfield and Lou Savarese can be put down to age or not training IMO (his own fault, of course) and the others to inexperience. Plus, I've read that both the losses to bey and white were stopped while in his feet, but I've never seen either fight.

Douglas 1986 to 1990 was a well-schooled all-round boxer, big heavyweight, great jab, long reach, decent skills. Age 25 to 29.
Joshua has no one like that on his record.

No ....his two biggest weaknesses were a weak chin and a lack of power ..( besides questionable heart )

If Eddie Hearn was in the 1980s promoting Buster Douglas's fights. even prior to the Tyson win, you'd be hearing about the incredible "resume" ...... "Tex Cobb, Greg Page, Mike Williams, Trevor Berbick, Oliver McCall, Wimpy Halstead" ......

Except Douglas never beat anyone remoted like Joshua and Parker does fit that description pretty well.

How well do you think Parker would do against Greg Page? Probably only a 50-50 fight at best for Parker.

Parker has short arms for his height and fought on the backfoot. That alone makes him a far less formidable opponent for Joshua.
I'd love Parker to prove himself a very good fighter because I always liked him, but so far he's never looked impressive at the world level.

He's great isn't he? There was a thread on twitter a year back of people going in for a handshake and Broseph turning it into a hug, not on tv, well, sometimes on tv, but just with guys who stopped him for a selfie or with a fighter that he was chatting with at ringside or whatever. He's a great guy.

Assuming (and it's assuming a lot!) that AJ drops the WBO belt, it'll be interesting to see if Parker can get his oar in. Eddie would be for it, but Joyce is the man with the momentum. The opponent would be Usyk.

Yeah, he seems like a top bloke.

I'd be happy to see that as an eliminator, Joyce v Parker, with Usyk facing the winner.
IF the titles are split up.
I'd also like to see Parker v the winner of Whyte-Povetkin 2.
He really needs one of these fights.

More gas tank than power, the guy had Tony Tucker wobbled in their fight, he had a pretty brutal right hand.
Overall he was a limited fighter with a few great assets. He had size, a great jab and a powerful right hand. Poor cardio, average chin and questionable heart/work ethic.
He was jabbing Tucker's face off until he gassed in their fight and AJ's gas tank isn't that much better. Smart money is on AJ, but Douglas could have given him some problems.

I think Joshua knocks out Douglas. He is more consistent and Joshua is bigger. Douglas was not a great fighter and beating Tyson was great, but a little stylistic and timing.

Parker would beat that version of Greg Page in workmanlike fashion.

Douglas was more backfoot than Parker.

If you watch this fight I think both fighters show a more advanced level of heavyweight boxing than Parker has so far operated in.

page was coming off a close loss to Tony Tubbs and a career best win over Gerrie Coetzee. I think Page was looking to win and to get his career back on track. He was lighter against Douglas than he was for Witherspoon, Tubbs and Coetzee. I think Douglas beat a good version of Page.

Same guy who was on the verge of losing to a fossilized Bugner.
