Yea he gets dropped easily . Considering Fury only fought a few live bodies , I consider him an overrated glass jawed oaf .
Joshua’s problem is not his chin or lack of it,it’s the sole fact that he has no confidence or belief in himself and no doubt thinks his chin is actually worse than it is .
Difference being that with Joshua that was with big shots from known big punchers - with Wilder it's happened even with guys who were famously featherfisted until the hype train turned them into heavy punchers overnight... there's a big difference being wobbled by Wlad who could definitely bang and Fury who has never been known for punching power and hasn't cracked any particularly tough chins. If Joshua's not underrated as a 6-7ish then Wilder is overrated if he's given anything higher than a 5.
I think a big part of this is that he's not a natural fighter - he's an athlete who's been taught how to fight... And then re-taught how to fight in a different style. And because he's not a natural, he can't quite process switching between those styles for different fights or even as a gear change within a fight, and it has to be conscious because it's not instinctual in the way a natural and/or lifelong fighter would be... and that causes confusion that undermines his confidence. The problem, perhaps, is not that his chin is poor (it doesn't seem to be) but that he's thinking too much and that allows it to enter the equation, rather than fighting on instinct.
I think his chin is decently solid, but that his insecurity is making it worse. Feels like all these people saying he has no chin have managed to genuinely convince him that he has no chin lol.
I think this is closest to the truth, Wlad unloaded on him with a huge right hand and he got up to take him out. He showed heart , guts and determination doing that. But one punch from Ruiz which wasn't nearly as powerful as the shot he took from Wlad altered everything. He never recovered from that punch even rounds later and to this day he seems to fight in fear of that happening again. It's strange,,,,, there has been talk of a Wilder Joshua fight for some time but I don't believe AJ's team will want him to take it. The trepidation and fear of getting hit by a big punch would only be magnified against Wilder 5 fold and I don't believe they'll risk it though I'd have picked the pre Ruiz version of AJ to get to Wilder before he got to him.
yes totally agree. Even when fighting the relatively light hitting Franklin he seemed so tentative. And the same against Helenius. Mentally he looks a bit broken and fearful. He simply doesn't have the frame of mind to face a murderous puncher like Windmill. I think they should try to make the Fury fight. Fury would probably win but it's big money cash out that he wouldn't get seriously hurt in. Can't see where else he goes.
AJ's chin is fine - above average, but obviously not a Foreman or Ali. As others have said he can take a punch, his problem is that he panics as soon as that happens and loses his chit mentally. His head movement is also not the best and he doesn't ride with the punches to lessen the impact. Still, I think AJ is a great fighter. The amount of hate he gets is cringeworthy.
