AJ often refers in interviews to his "coach" is he referring to Tony Sims or his amateur trainer Robert McCracken ?

Tony Sims is with him on fight night but so is McCracken.

I know the GB squad allow McCracken to train 1 boxer Froch as part of his job but I get the impression he trains AJ as well.

Does anyone know more about this? I thought Tony Sims was his "coach" and that he pops down to Sheffield every so often. But from Eddie's meeting with Shannon the Cannon, he said Joshua spends half his time in Sheffield? If so, bit odd McCracken isn't in his corner on fight night!

The football manager is the head coach..

But in boxing it's a one man team.. so the general manager is the manager of the one man team..

But in football/soccer the general manager manages the business side..

In boxing the manager is like a general manager in football..

In boxing a boxing coach and a trainer is synonymous..

One guy is the head trainer..

You really need to be banned and IP blocked for the good of the forum. Your constant thread ruining is now beyond a nuisance.

Optimus is ok. You can just ignore him if you want. It is the deliberate trolling on this site that ruins it.

Funny that one of AJ's dirty little secrets is being revealed by accident by Eddie. Just about everybody, including GB Boxing, knows that McCracken is AJ's trainer and that Sims is just wheeled out for the odd public event and for the fight. Shameful really.

Why is it a dirty little secret? Aj is open about training in Sheffield on social media. You only have to put two and two together to know team GB train there.

AJ he really does seem like a guy who is trying to become the best technical boxer he can be - it makes sense to keep working with both mccracken and sims.

McCracken took him to gold, he almost masterminded froch vs groves 2 so obviously a world level trainer
and you have sims inputing his knowledge also.

I don't see the problem - or why its dirty

Well it's obviously hush hush otherwise why is Rob never in his corner? Why is he never next to him at the Press Conferences?

I don't think it hush hush, I don't know for definite but I would expect that the GB set up has asked that he no longer has a BBBoC licence so that he can do the corners at AIBA tournaments. That means it is impossible for him to be in AJ's corner mate.

It's a problem because McCracken is forbidden from training a professional and its dirty because AJ and McCracken are knowingly breaking the amateur and Olympic rules by doing this. McCracken has previously been warned and banned from the corner for this which is why it is a dirty little secret and extremely selfish of AJ to jeopardise the GB amateur boxing set up that gave him so much.

Would also like to know if AJ pays for the use of the facilities and the host of professional support services whilst at the state funded set up in Sheffield.
