    Ortega is harrying Perez, playing patty-cake with his right jab meeting Perez's left every time it even begins to offload, and driving in that left on the body. Perez is down in the corner, and Ortega is sent to a neutral zone. Unclear whether a knockdown, seems it was ruled a slip. Ortega is shoving his way inside, faking the right jab and pumping the left hand on the gut. 1-2 by Perez, breaking through Ortega's guard. Ortega applauds Perez and jumps inside, looking to brawl. Perez circles away, faster than a walk but slower than a a jog, looking ready for a break. There is the bell.

    It was like he strategically decided to freak Broner out by fighting the exact fight Broner would want him to... and then strategically decided to not actually give a flying f*** while in the ring. And that includes not giving a flying f*** about defending himself either. It was so odd. Like he didn't even try and was utterly confused. It isn't the first time I'd seen that, though. Against far limited and reckless Reyes Sanchez, DeMarco won but had similar lapses of attentiveness and barely eeked out a 115-113 to me... Also against Valero. DeMarco doesn't strike me as a very smart fighter in the ring, or at least one who can't make adjustments even if he wanted to. The Linares fight doesn't even really support the opposite to that claim.

    My own mitts are involuntarily drawn up to my throat right now. Even under the care of a master surgeon, I've got serious issues with anything even closely resembling a Brazilian necktie!
