As much of a **** that he was you can't put plaster on your jaw. Some of the punishment he took was insane. Cintron landed some complete bombs on that chin and got no reaction from it. He'll go out with a very dark cloud over him and rightly so but you have to admire his guts, heart and determination.

 

Cotto never broke Margarito, he was walking Down Cotto in the rematch all night. Still mocking and shaking off most of Cotto's attacks, Cotto win the fight. But he did not break or demoralise Margarito....

Margarito wanted to carry on, it was a competitive fight and Cotto was being hit in the late rounds.

If there was ever a third match, and Margarito had his eye fixed to 100 percent! He would break Cotto..

 

Always thought Plaster or no plaster Marg beats Cotto the first time they met. Cotto played right into his hands that night. Gassed early then margo turned the heat up. Cotto was a completely different fighter in the rematch though a smarter fighter and the better one.

 

No I don't. I'll distribute my admiration to those with heart and determination who weren't cheats and don't get the benefit of Top Rank paydays for lopsided beatings.

 

Cotto's face was worse in the Pacquiao fight and was hit with less punches.

 

When will we see a fighter again with a chin like his, walk through power shots from big punchers smiling. People say Froch has an iron chin, but chin's like Margarito are rare, he even based his career on it.

 

:deal He was a cheating scum bag but he was made of something else. Mosley knocking him to pieces doesn't get the respect it should. Before that fight Margo was basically a concrete wall and no one was knocking it down. After the plaster business though it seemed to discredit the fact that Mosley punched holes in him that night.

 

Cotto dominated the fight and was in complete control. He totally outboxed Margo. He was just getting to beat up on Margo when the fight was stopped.

Cotto's reaction at the end and his interview showed he was very happy with the revenge he got which was the most important thing.

That was a damaging fight to Cotto in a lot of ways not just physical.

Yes I agree with this. I've always thought the key in that fight was Cotto beating himself by doing too much early on (looking great in doing so I must say) and not judging the pace of the fight well. Then, Margorito worked well to the body and broke him down. I just think that Cotto wasn't as effective as he should have been in evading punches and exchanges when using back foot tactics and that is what screwed him.

On the other hand, in the second fight Margorito couldn't find the body anywhere near as much and was frustrated by Miguel. He out-thought him in that second fight because Margorito did nothing different to the first fight. it was just that Cotto fought a more disciplined fight 2nd time around.

Disgraceful cheating filthy b*stard just like luis resto & panama lewis IMO.

After the handwraps incident, the fact he was allowed to fight on after a measly 1 year ban was both bad as it should've been a lifelong ban, but also slightly good in a sadistic way personally as i got to see Pac knock 10 shades of sh*t out of him, then finally got to see Cotto avenge his 1st career defeat*.

Boxing wont be rid of him just yet, courtesy of Brandon Rios, so my hatred passes over to that bellend now.
