UFC is so sure about Couture winning this, marketing it Boxing vs UFC.
if Toney wins it would make UFC look really stupid, UFC must understand that there is always change that Toney wins, still they are so sure that Couture take this:think

I wish they would have matched toney up with a guy like Pat Barry who has good standup. couture is a legend of course and "suppose' to win but the guy is 47 and it won't take much for Toney with 4oz gloves to clip him and possibly knock him out. this is a no win situation for the UFC but at least it will stop Toney from stalking Dana around the country.

Agreed. If they really wanted Toney to do well then they would put him in with Barry or CC. Someone that will show him the striking possibilities (kicks, knees in the clinch etc) and maybe a bit of grappling. Instead they are going to give him a legend with top grappling skills and who should be strategically savvy enough to know he shouldn't stand with him. Like you said though, with 4oz gloves on and Coutures punch resistance, a KO is not out of the question.

It really is pretty much out of the question. People here "pro boxer" and they assume that Toney punches harder than everyone else in the UFC based purely on technique. As Toney said when he fought Holyfield, "I'm the best puncher he has ever faced; not the HARDEST puncher, but the BEST". He was probably right about that, but what he was talking about was accuracy and timing and whatnot in his particular style of BOXING. Punching technique in MMA is different than in boxing unless the boxer in question doesn't care about getting taken down.

The point is, the things that make Toney an effective puncher in boxing won't put Couture out because it won't be restricted the way boxing is and TONEY IS NOT A ONE PUNCH KNOCKOUT TYPE GUY. He hasn't been since he was 160-168 and even then he was an accumulation puncher/catch the guy with a blind punch type knockout guy. The idea that all of a sudden he'll be hitting guys in the UFC harder than they've every been hit by big natural 250 pounders is nuts. Toney would stop everyone in the UFC in a 5-10 round boxing match; I'm sure of that. But I don't think he'll be able to land enough punches in a combination to put Couture down before Couture can grab him and take him down.

There's pretty much only one thing Couture could do to lose and that's stand and try to box (not kickbox, but box) with Toney and let him get off enough clean punches to get the fight stopped. If he does ANYTHING else (and since he's old and fighting for his legacy I doubt he'll **** around in there) he wins easily. Toney can't really DO anything to win, he has to hope that Couture does what he has to do to lose. Not much of a recipe for success...

As for Toney fighting CC or Berry, that'd be fun too, though the counter to leg kicks requires coming forward very quickly and Toney boxing style is a lot more stationary. After Couture beats him (if Toney doesn't do something to get booted out afterwords, which I can totally see happening) then they might do that for his next fight.

Not really. Anderson in boxing and sparring with big gloves doesn't look like a ko artist but put him in the cage with 4oz and he becomes surgical. Obviously, Toney can't stand there and shoulder roll. Adjustments will have to be made but with 4oz gloves, him being a boxer and Coutures declining punch resistance then yes him being put spark out becomes a very real threat. Toney isn't the hardest puncher ever but he is fast, accurate, will hit you with shots coming in etc These sort of things all add up to a ko, perhaps more so in MMA then in boxing due to glove size.

You sure it's not boxing vs MMA? They compare a sport with a company? That's like comparing horses with apples.
